TREE PLANTING
CRPIP- September 2019

I. RATIONALE:
This proposal springs from the consistent effort of the Chico River Pump
Irrigation Project to keep abreast of its environmental commitment and in support to
the National Greening Program of the Government.
The tree planting program is an initial mitigating measure undertaken by NIA-
CRPIP during the construction phase of the project which was premiered at the
Magaogao Ancestral Domain an area covered by the project last June 14, 2019.
Since the project also covers a greater area of Cagayan particularly Tuao and
Piat, the initial mitigating measure previously undertaken shall likewise be applied to
restore and rehabilitate adjacent areas’ level of biological potential.
The prescient outcome of the tree planting activity projected in years will lend
true meaning to the NIA’s mission to help in the inclusive growth of the country and
improvement of farmer’s quality of life through sustainable development
transformed to sustainable community.
The general conditions under the ECC-RO2-1803-0022 provide in particular
that all commitment and mitigating measures be instituted to minimize any adverse
effect or impact of the project to the environment throughout its implementation,
hence this proposal.

II. OBJECTIVES:
 Compliance to the general conditions provided in ECC-RO2-1803-0022.
 Part of NIA-CRPIP’s environmental Commitment to the National Greening
Program of the Government.
 Support to the sustainable development to the community that the project is
mandated to deliver upon its operation.
 To sustain the continued acceptance of the community to the project.
 To raise awareness in the importance of planting and saving trees to combat
climate change.

III. DATE AND VENUE

The tree planting is scheduled on the month of September which is usually

rainy, a season suitable for planting activities. The venue shall be at Brgy. Sto
Tomas an area identified through negotiation with the LGU.
