Comment: The pile design has been rechecked considering the maximum
discharge = 600 cumecs and maximum velocity = 2.0 m/s which is a conservative
over estimation in comparison to the values as they are mentioned in the drawing
vide no.SGAPL/PHED/MALDA/18-19/01 SHEET NO-1 of 1, Revision -1 by the
concerned Division vide letter no.826/MAAD Dated-02/08/2018. The
unsupported length considered while rechecking is = (12.535m + 4.0m) = 16.535m
below HFL, ignoring the contribution of the layer of slush as its skin friction has
been ignored in the calculations.
As per IRC: 78-2014, cl-709.3.5.2, Pg-38 the allowable pile deflection at the scour
level is 1% of the pile diameter. The lateral capacity of the pile is calculated by
considering the deflection at the point of application of the load, which comes out
to 22mm, considering a linear profile which is both simple and conservative in
approach.
