DANCE
Dance, the movement of the body in a rhythmic way, usually to
music and within a given space, for the purpose of expressing an
idea or emotion, releasing energy, or simply taking delight in the
movement itself.

CHEER DANCE

✘ Cheer dance, referred as cheerleading, is a team


physical activity using organized routines for the
purpose of motivating a sports team, entertaining an
audience, or participating in a competition.
✘ This activity is performed with minimum and maximum
number of performers and a time limit.

HISTORY of CHEER DANCE

✘ Cheerleading is over 100 years old that started when all cheerleaders were
men.
✘ The first cheerleaders in the U.S were organized by a Princeton graduate
names Thomas Peebles. He moved to Minnesota and there he formed an
organized cheerleaders to support the University of Minnesota football
team.
✘ In Nov. 2, 1898 football game between Princeton and the University of
Minnesota, six male cheerleaders entertained the crowd first time. They
were led by Johnny Campbell and this was considered the birth of
cheerleading.

✘ It was reported that Campbell’s first cheer was, “Rah, Rah, Rah! Ski-u-mah,
Hoo-rah! Hoo-rah! Varsity! Varsity! Varsity! Minn-e-So-Tah!” This
apparently led to popular “sis boom bah” cheer.
✘ In 1903, the Gamma Sigma fraternity was founded as the first cheerleaders.
✘ Women joined cheerleading squads in 1923. During World War II, the shift to
mostly female cheer squads began.
✘ The National Cheerleader Association was founded by Lawrence ‘Herkie’
Herkimer in 1948. Herkimer had cheered for Southern Methodist University
and the first cheer clinics were held in Huntsville, Texas.

Canadian Clergyman, educator, and physician. He was also an

VOLLEYBALL
✘ This is a game wherein two teams volley the ball in the
air back and forth over the net. The object is to force the
opposing team either to fail to return the ball
successfully or play the ball illegally.
✘ Volleyball can be play indoor and outdoor. It is played by
two opposing teams of six players each on a court with
the objective of landing the ball into the opponent’s
court to gain a point or score.

BASEBALL

✘ Baseball, game played with a bat, a ball, and gloves between two
teams of nine players each on a field with four white bases laid out
in a diamond (i.e., a square oriented so that its diagonal line is
vertical). Teams alternate positions as batters (offense) and
fielders (defense), exchanging places when three members of the
batting team are “put out.” As batters, players try to hit the ball out
of the reach of the fielding team and make a complete circuit
around the bases for a “run.” The team that scores the most runs in
nine innings (times at bat) wins the game.

particularly in the United States. It is generally agreed that softball
developed from a game called indoor baseball, first played
in Chicago in 1887. It became known in the United States by various
