Engineering Entrance Exams
■ For this a student should be taking PCM in their PUC or any other equivalent.
■ There are many engineering exams, few are nation wide and few state wide.
■ Few exams are conducted by specific private colleges for entrance into their
colleges, and other nation wide exams are for prestigious engineering colleges like
NIT’s, IIIT’s and IIT’s.
JEE (Mains)
■ Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is conducted in two stages.
– Mains
– Advanced
■ JEE(Mains) exam is conducted by CBSE every year in the
month of April.
■ Around 12 lakh students apply for this exam, and around 2.24
lakh students are qualified.
■ Qualified students are eligible to write JEE(Advanced) exam or
can directly through counselling apply for NIT’s, IIIT’s and
many other deemed universities all over India. (exhaustive list
available on jeemain.nic.in)
■ Marks of 10+2 equivalent are not considered, but a minimum
of 75% has to be secured by the students to get qualified.
JEE (Mains)
Score Range Rank range ■ These are the ranks range that
310-360 1-100 student can get with a given marks
from the exam.
290-309 101-200
270-289 201-500 ■ As the marks reduce the reduction
of ranks is higher, so even 1 mark

JEE (Advanced)
■ Students who have qualified JEE(Mains) can write JEE(Advanced).
■ It is conducted in the month of May every year at least after 1 month of JEE(Mains).
■ It is conducted by one of IIT’s(Indian Institute of Technology) which are 18 in number, and
students who secure a rank, can apply for all 18 IIT’s present in all over India, through
counselling system.
■ Every year around 2 lakh students apply for this exam, and there are around 18,000 seats
available in all the IIT’s.
State CET
■ Many states in India have their own CET(Common Entrance Test).
– Andhra Pradesh
– Karnataka
– Keralal
– Maharashtra

– Chattisgarh
– Gujarat
– Jammu & Kashmir
– Odisha
– Uttar Pradesh
State CET
■ Students from the particular state or from outside also can apply for this exam.
■ Qualified students can apply in the engineering colleges present in the state.
■ Generally 10+2 equivalent marks are considered for this exam, and the rank is based on
both the marks secured in entrance exam and also in 10+2 equivalent.
■ The level of questions compared to JEE will be lower but competition is higher as more
number of students will be applying for this exam.
Other Engg. Entrance Exams
■ VITEEE – Conducted by VIT(Vellore Institute of Technology)
– Qualified students can get seat in VIT, Vellore, Tamilnadu
■ BITSAT – Conducted by BITS(Birla Institute of Technology & Science)
– Qualified students can get seat in BITS Pilani, Goa & Hyderabad
– Online based exam (no paper based)
■ Manipal – Conducted by MIT(Manipal Institute of Technology)
– Qualified students can get seat in Manipal Institute of Technology
Medical Entrance Exams
■ For this a student should be taking PCB combination in their PUC or any other
equivalent.
■ There are many medical exams, few are nation wide and few state wide.
■ Previously known as AIPMT now made into one exam for all medical colleges in
India.
NEET
■ NEET – National Eligibility cum Entrance Test
■ This is a nation wide test for admission into MBBS seats and AYUSH seats all over
India.
■ Exam is conducted by CBSE Board, and generally conducted in May of every year.
■ 180 questions
– 45 – physics, 45 – chemistry & 90 – Biology
– In 3 hours

■ "Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana“ by the Department of Science and Technology

■ Opportunities
■ Direct Admission in various reputed colleges like, IISER, IISC etc.
■ Online Exam, can be written in both 1st yr of PUC/11th and also in 2nd yr of PUC/12th.
■ PCMB subjects are considered and 10th, 11th and 12th syllabus will be considered.
NDA
■ NDA(National Defense Academy Entrance Exam) exam will
be held by the UPSC and the organization is all set to
conduct written test
■ Eligibility: 10 + 2 / Intermediate or any equivalent
qualification provided by the state government.
■ Opportunities
– To be part of National defense(army, navy and air force) and serve
nation
– Selected students can either go to National Defense Academy or
Indian Naval Academy
NATA
■ National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is conducted by the Council of
Architecture (COA) for admission to first year of 5 year B.Arch Degree course
at all recognized institutions all over the country.
■ Eligibility: 10 + 2 / Intermediate or any equivalent qualification provided by
the state government.
■ Exam Pattern

■ Arjunaa Academy for Achievers is started by Mr. Hareesh, a student of NIT Surathkal,
ECE Department, with a humble batch of 20 – 30 students in Surathkal itself. After
passing out of college in the year 2011, while he was working with Cadence Design
Systems India Pvt. Ltd. along with few other friends started teaching in few colleges
for 11th & 12th students helping them to crack competitive exams like JEE.
■ In the year 2015 Arjunaa Academy for Achievers is incorporated and now it is having
