Serie XG - CPSC
CP-SC (Cyclic Prefix - Single Carrier).

120Km, 1 Fibra o 2 Fibras) o SFP multimodo (500 Mts, 2 Fibras). La alimentación se
puede llevar con un cable UTP cat 5e.

Cable UTP transporta solo DC.

LoS (Line of Sight)

Although InfiNet Wireless devices can also operate in Near-LoS or Non-LoS conditions,
in order to achieve maximum performance, you must always try to have the Fresnel Zone

Radio settings and capabilities

• One of the InfiNet advantages comes from one of the design stage
conceptions – Flexibility in configurations
• Such an approach enriches customers with a wide range of
solutions powered by InfiNet units. For instance:
‒ InfiNet MIMO units can be set to work also in MISO or in SISO
modes
‒ Alternatively, it is possible to disable any of the two radio chains
(connected to horizontally and vertically polarized antennas) in
order to provide links flexibility and to address various scenarios
‒ On the other hand, it is possible to extend reliable link distance,
increasing reception robustness in Near-LoS or even in Non-LoS
by switching InfiNet units from MIMO mode to MISO mode
• So, let's take a closer look at the InfiNet radio settings

Purpose: Configure a Point-to-Point link (setting-up the basic radio link parameters)
• Step 1: Configure one of the two units as Master and the other unit as Slave: go to
Basic Settings -> Link Settings, select Master/Slave type accordingly
Radio settings and capabilities

Laboratory A - Task 3

• Step 2: Master unit should be set to fixed frequency (unless DFS mode is hardcoded),
channel width, SID and key (optional): go to Basic Settings -> Link Settings
Radio settings and capabilities

Laboratory A - Task 3

• Press the Apply button at the bottom of the page in order to save the configuration
performed for the master unit
• Step 3: The slave unit needs at least one profile configured with the same frequency (or
auto frequency), channel width, SID and key as for the Master unit:
Radio settings and capabilities

Laboratory A - Task 3

• After saving the radio configuration performed also for the Slave unit (in the radio
profile), the radio link will be established between the two units (of course, in case the
link is deployed in outdoor environment, firstly consult the documentation about the
installation of the units and antennas alignment)
• Check the wireless link establishment in Device Status section:
Radio settings and capabilities

Automatic Transmit Power Control

• Let’s review some of the radio parameter settings:

1. Automatic Transmit Power Control (ATPC) – it is an algorithm that tries to maintain a
necessary and sufficient power level to work on the selected modulation; it adjust the
power level in real time and has a lot of benefits that include the reduction in power
consumption and reduction of the interference levels
• ATPC is enabled by selecting the “Auto” checkbox besides the Tx Power parameter

• The meaning of the “Tx Power” parameter:

- Fixed operational power level if ATPC is not enabled
- Absolut maximum operational power if ATPC is enabled
• Additionally, you can adjust the automatic power control level selection by choosing to
keep the power levels above or below the normal calculated levels
Example: According to the settings in the picture above, ATPC will maintain a power level
that is 3 dB higher than the needed (calculated) power level for normal operation, but it will
not exceed 10 dBm
Radio settings and capabilities

Autobitrate

2. Autobitrate – it is an algorithm that aims to select in real time the suitable modulation
level for operating with the current SNR
• Autobitrate is enabled by selecting the “Auto” checkbox besides the “Tx Bitrate”
parameter

• The meaning of the “Tx Bitrate” parameter:

- Fixed modulation level if Autobitrate is not enabled
- Maximum modulation level if Autobitrate is enabled
• Additionally, you can adjust the normal required SNR thresholds for each modulation
level (normally it uses the predefined increase/decrease SNR thresholds, if 0 is input in
the increment/decrement field above)
Example: According to the settings in the picture above, Autobitrate will choose the optimal
modulation level, but it will take the decision to increase or decrease the modulation by
using 5 dB higher SNR threshold values compared to the normal thresholds for each
modulation

TROUBLESHOOTING
Troubleshooting

Step 1 - ensure the wireless link is up and operational

• Go to Device status -> Wireless neighbor unit should be connected

Troubleshooting

Step 2 - check the percentage of retries

• Retries - the amount of resent packets over the link from the network interfaces buffers
• Big % of retries indicates bad link quality
• Go to Device Status -> Wireless neighbor connected -> % retries

• If the retries value exceeds 10%, then the wireless link faces with a real problem which
must be investigated
• Perform the next troubleshooting steps for investigating the link issue in case of retries
above 10%
Troubleshooting

Step 3 - check the history statistics graphs

• Check the history graphs to find out when the wireless link quality degradation occurred
• Go to Device Status -> Graphs:
Troubleshooting

Step 3 - Statistics history graphs check

• Check the following parameters:

– Reference Level
Troubleshooting

Step 3 - Statistics history graphs check

– Retries
Troubleshooting

Step 3 - Statistics history graphs check

– Modulation change
Troubleshooting

Step 4 - check the antennas alignment

• Improper alignment can significantly affect the link overall quality resulting in low
throughput, high latency and customer complains
• Go to Device Status -> click on wireless neighbor -> Alignment tool
Troubleshooting

Step 4 - antennas alignment check

Troubleshooting

Step 4 - antennas alignment check

The main recommendations when using Antenna alignment tool:

• Start antenna alignment with searching maximum signal level on a minimal possible
bitrate (then the automatic MINT mechanisms will set the most appropriate bitrate when
"Autobitrate" mode will be enabled, after the alignment)
• ATPC should be disabled and Tx power must be set on the maximum value
considering the EIRP limitation
• Input signal level should be between 12 and 50
• If the signal level it is more than 50, lower the Tx power (ATPC will do it automatically)
• If maximal signal level is less than 12, lower the channel width (for example, from
20MHz to 10MHz)
Troubleshooting

Step 4 - antennas alignment check

• In some cases, signal levels less than 12 may be good enough for the radio link
operation - in this case check the number of retries and Error Vector Magnitude
• EVM value should be more than 21 in absolute value
• If the number of retries is small and EVM is more than 21 in absolute value (Input
Signal stripe is green) then the radio link, most likely operates properly
• Retries value should be zero or as low as possible
• The top of an Input Signal stripe should be located as close as possible to the black
area
• Input signals of the two antennas of the device should have similar Cross fading values
(Input Signal stripes should be located symmetrically relating to the 0 dB value)

ALL described recommendations are applicable to both (Local and Remote) units
Troubleshooting

Step 5 - interferences check

Spectrum Analyzer
• Provides deep analysis of radio emission sources
• The device scans the radio spectrum on all available frequencies
• In case of single radio units, the wireless link is disconnected for the scan procedure for
about 3 minutes
• Perform always two spectrum scans (one for each link endpoint)
• Start from the remote unit: launch Spectrum Analyzer (the data traffic is immediately
disconnected due to listening mode activation); when scanning is complete, login to the
remote unit again, go to Spectrum Analyzer and check the obtained result by click to

Step 5 - interferences check

Radio Sources Analysis

• Use Radio Sources Analysis to rapidly test the electromagnetic environment, visually
estimate the efficiency of the utilization of the air links, reveal sources of interference
and estimate their power
• Go to Device Status -> click on rf5.0 -> Radio Sources Analysis
Troubleshooting

Step 5 - interferences check

• Radio Sources Analysis tool performs MAC-addresses analysis to estimate the number
of clients with different MAC-addresses and the efficiency of their utilization of the air
link
• The analysis includes data packets, the link-level of the ACK messages sent by the
InfiNet units within the network and (most valuable for interference detection) pulses –
shows the number of detected pulses per second and them average signal level
• Pulses are radio sources which cannot be correctly recognized by the unit
• Mostly, such radio sources (pulses) operate on completely different frequencies than
the ones of InfiNet units

Step 6 - link performance check

• It is one of the most important test

• Moreover, it is recommended to always compare the results of Performance test
between each other from the date of installation and troubleshooting tests
• Go to Device Status -> click on wireless neighbor -> Performance test

Step 6 – Performance check

Troubleshooting

Step 6 - link performance check

• Each row corresponds to a certain bitrate value which can be selected or deselected for
participating in the performance test by using a check-box on the right of it
• By checking Select all check-box, all bitrates could be selected/deselected at once
• Three more parameters are available for management:
– Bi-directional check-box – allows choosing between making bi-directional (when
checked) and unidirectional (unchecked) performance test
– Use mint check-box – allows performing MINT-enabled test when all the traffic and
link parameters are controlled and managed by MINT functions such as ATPC and
autobitrate (in this mode, the statistics for errors and retries are not available)

Step 7 - diagnostic cared creation

• Diagnostic card is a snapshot of the whole unit, including configuration, system log
messages, various output parameters, system messages, license information
• This is extremely useful for InfiNet Wireless support team, therefore please collect and
submit it in case you request InfiNet Wireless technical support
• Go to Maintenance -> right bottom corner -> Create diagnostic card
