Taqwa Verses
The following are the five verses that mention taqwa
Translation
1. "People! Worship your God (Creator and Sustainer) Who created you and those before
you, so that you may guard against evil..." [Quran 2:21].

Explanation:
The fear of Allah, is the only force that can restrain man from evil and wickedness.
It is this fear of Allah that keeps the heart of a believer awake and enables him to distinguish
right from wrong

Translation
2. “Mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you
people and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you
in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is knowing and
Acquainted” [Quran 49:13]

Explanation:
The root meaning of Taqwa is to save oneself from anything that causes
apprehension of being harmful or injurious. It, therefore, includes the fear or
apprehension of the consequences that follow from a certain act or behaviour. By
extension, it means the awareness of one's responsibilities to other

Translation
3. “Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward East or West, but it is taqwa
to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book and the
Messengers, to spend of your substance out of love for Him, for your kin, for
orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of
slaves; to be steadfast in prayer and practice regular charity; to fulfill the contracts
you have made; to be firm and patient, in pain and adversity. Those are the truthful
and those are the Muttaqun.” [Quran 2:177]
Explanation:
When Godcxseev commanded the change of the prayer direction –Qibla- towards
the Sacred Mosque in Mecca, Muslims turned to it after they had been facing
Jerusalem. Allah is telling the Muslims not to consider the turning of the direction
in prayer as righteousness, because the action of turning one way or another is
not difficult at all.it requires effort and patienc. Righteousness encompasses great
matters such as faith, piety, honesty, obedience, charity and many other good
deeds.

Translation
4. “it is he who sent down tranguillity into the hearts of the belivers that they would
increase in faith along with their faith. And to Allah belong the soldiers of the
heavens and the earth, and ever is Allah Knowing and Wise” [Quran 48:4]
Explanation:
Calmness and tranquility are sought after states in the daily rat-race of life. These
are bounties from Allah which are specifically focused towards the hearts of the
true believes. People seek solace in material items, sports, relationships and some
even seek it in sin and vice, whereas the true solace that the heart craves can only
be acquired from the creator of the heart himself. When a servant attaches his
heart, actions, longings and aspiration to Allah, Almighty Allah sees to his affairs
and keeps him in a state of peace which even those with abundant worldly wealth
envy.

Translation
5. “O, you who believe! When you hold secret counsel, do it not for sin and wrong-
doing, and disobedience towards the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) but do it for
Al-Birr (righteousness) and Taqwa (virtues and piety), and fear Allah unto Whom
you shall be gathered.” [Quran, 58:9]
Explanation:
Matter how much a person commits a sin, God is watching him. Hadrat Maulana
Hafiz Ghulam Habib (r.a.) used to define taqwa as the shunning of everything and
anything that causes a deficiency in one’s relationship with Allah.
