The SMC representative will be here every Thursday throughout the year between 9:00 and
11:00 am in Room 292.
Do you need a BHHS Parking Permit?????? They are still available……come to House B and pick up
an application! You need to have a BHHS Parking Permit to park on campus.
AMC is coming. Sign up for this year’s Math Contest. Bring $2 to room S315 during lunch, nutrition
or after school by November 10th. The contest will be on Wednesday Feb. 23, 2011. CHALLENGE
YOURSELF!
Angel Viramontes, the West L.A. College Representative, will be available on the 1st and
3rd Monday of every month from 1:00 p.m. -2:00 p.m. in the Career Center throughout
the school year.

Girls Going Places Entrepreneurial Scholarship -9th-12th grade students can apply. Cash prizes are awarded to girls who
demonstrate budding entrepreneurship; are taking first steps toward financial independence, and are making a difference in
their schools and community. Information is available in House C or visit the website www.GirlsGoingPlaces.com.
Application deadline February 28, 2011.

Express Your Own Voice!!! Submit to Voice Around the World! Send in any original work (art, poetry,
short stories, etc.) in the foreign language along with its English translation. Check with your foreign
language and/or English Teacher for submission forms. Deadline for all writing and artwork is
December 15th. Submit to Dr. Ramsey, Rm. 238.

West L.A. College will be offering AJ 67- Community Relations at the high school for spring semester. If you
are interested in criminal justice or law, you will enjoy this course taught by Officer Anne Marie Lunsman. The
class will be offered on Thursdays from 3:30 – 6:15p.m. Applications are available in House C or the Career
Center. Must enroll and turn in your application to Mr. Viramontes by Monday, December 6th. See Mrs. Hale
in House C if you have questions.

Career Day 2011 Planning Committee: be an integral part of Career Day 2011 (April 13th) by
becoming a committee member. Ideally, we are looking for a couple of students from each grade level. If
you feel you interact well within a team and have creative ideas for Career Day 2011, we want you on the
planning committee! Meetings will be held approximately twice per month, with the first two on
Wednesdays (12/1 and 12/15), from 7:30a – 9:00a. Meeting dates after that will be TBD. If you are
interested, see to Mr. Hayne in Rm. 221.

Holiday season job outlook: Retailers are hiring significantly more this year as compared to the past couple of years.
For those interested in pursuing a job, the time to apply is NOW! Time is running out! The ROP department has recently
put together a list of retailers (that have a company policy of hiring between 15 - 17 years of age) and the probability they
might be currently hiring. Go to the Career Center or Mr. Hayne’s office (Rm. 221) to pick up this listing.
Attention Students Who Need a Tutor:
Help is on the way! Our peer tutoring program begins November 29th. If you are interested in
getting extra help and doing better in your classes, sign up for FREE peer tutoring. To sign up go
to room 292 or see your counselor.

Please make sure that your email address is correct in Naviance. This is the main method by which
your counselors will be communicating with you during your college application process. Questions?
See your counselor for help.

Seniors: November Scholarship opportunities are available on Naviance/Family Connection and


the BHHS website. Paper copies are available in House C.
SENIORS: Wanted—Creative, Artistic, Spirited Design!
Senior Sweatshirt designs are due Wed., Dec. 15th to Loren Newman’s mailbox.
Seniors: If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of California and are planning to attend a California
Community College, California State University, University of California, or Private University, you need to fill
out a GPA Verification form and return it to House C, no later than Friday, December 17th, 2010.

Although the final deadline date is March 2, we submit the forms electronically as early as possible for priority
consideration. So please do not procrastinate! Turn in your forms to House C before the winter break so that you
can be among those students who apply for grants early.
Seniors:

• You MUST send back your proofs to White’s Studios by December 1st!
• Prices for Senior Yearbook Ads go up on December 10th. Everything must be turned
in together (pictures, test and $$).

Check the bulletin; watch the calendars in the main hall, look at visits on Naviance and PLAN AHEAD.
Pick up a permission slip from any of the houses, get your teachers approval and bring the College
Conference Form with you to the meeting. Your attendance will be verified.
