Kaleidoscope

If I were to paint an image of the Filipinos, I will paint it with a lot of colors. It will be the
most colorful painting that I will ever paint. Each color symbolizes something that will distinguish
a Filipino thus, I will surely need a lot of colors to use.
First, I will need red for courage and sacrifice. Red for courage because we, Filipinos are
well known for the bold history of our ancestors. Courage of the Filipinos who didn’t choose to
sit in the corner and let the others suffer. For the Filipinos who fought for our beloved country.
Red for sacrifice, sacrifice of the loving Filipinos. The color of the blood they sacrificed for the
Philippines’ own flag. The color of the souls that were long forgotten by time.
Secondly, blue for being hospitable and family oriented of the Filipino. Filipinos are too
hospitable that they are going to invite their friends in to eat of have a coffee who happened to
be just passing by their house even if they don’t really have something to offer or their food is
just for the whole family. Filipinos are also family oriented that even from the great grandparent
to the youngest child live in only one house. We, Filipinos are not used to live far away from our
love ones or more from our families.
Third is white. White will perfectly represent the Filipinos being conservative. The word
fits in different categories of being conservative. Conservative in clothing. Unlike in the other
countries, Filipinos especially the ladies are not used to wear reveling clothes. For the 21st
century, I can still say that there are still Filipinas who are conservative in their choices of clothes.
Conservative in relationship. Even if social media and internet are hastily invading the lives of
every teenager around the globe with no exemption of the Filipino teenagers, I must say that if
you ask a certain lady here in the Philippines, they would rather have a guy who will be close to
their parents and other family members.
I still have a long list of the colors that I should buy in painting the Filipinos and those are
just the primary colors and the more obvious colors that you will see in the picture of the Filipinos.
One might say that Filipinos are secluded in this hard knock jungle, over populated
country which is the Philippines but if you will look closely at the pictures of the smiling faces of
the Filipino youth and the colorful fiestas of the Filipino culture or the historical past of this
wonderful country, you might notice the good and bright side of being a Filipino.
So held your head up Pinoy! You are part of this huge and colorful painting.
