PIPING CHRISTMAS 2019

I. OBJECTIVE OF THE CONTEST


A. To develop good camaraderie among piping colleagues.
B. To showcase the unique talent of pipers.
C. To have fun.

II. MECHANICS AND GUIDELINES


A. Pipers are divided into five groups. Each group to perform a specific Korean pop music in the
following order.
1st: Group 1 – Team Gwiyomi
2nd: Group 2 – Team Saranghae
3rd: Group 3 – Team Oppa-Kan
4th: Group 4 – Team Hwaiting
5th: Group 5 – Team Anyeong
B. Each group shall showcase concert performance (singing, dancing, acting, hosting, etc.) of their own
choice of KPOP artist.
C. Duplication of KPOP songs is allowed to each team since we have a limited famous KPOP songs what
matters most is how they execute and the performance level . There is no limit on the number of
songs included in their performance as long as it will be covered by time duration.
D. Each group shall include at least one (1) Christmas song/s of their choice which they can
act/sing/dance at any time during their performance. Submission of Christmas song/s is until Nov.
28. In case of duplication among the groups, first to submit will get the song.
E. All members shall participate in the presentation in any way (Props man/ Operator of lights/music
etc.)
F. Total presentation time for each group shall be maximum of 8 minutes only from entrance to exit.
Each group shall be able to prepare/set-up while their one (1) minute (max.) video clip is playing.
Each group shall be responsible in the quick cleaning up of their props/materials after their
presentation.
G. Group leaders will pick one member to facilitate the group’s presentation AV setup. Each group
leader shall submit their group’s final presentation music to committee until 12 NN of December 12.
H. Lip-syncing is allowed.
I. Each group must submit the 1 min video (behind the scenes, interviews, bloopers) until December
10, 2019, 5 pm only.

III. CRITERIA FOR JUDGING


A. CHOREOGRAPHY / PERFORMANCE – 50%
-Able to showcase the famous act/song/dance
-Well-coordinated presentation
-Musicality

B. CREATIVITY (COSTUME/PROPS/SOUNDS) – 30%


- Ability to visually depict, through costumes and props.
- Resourcefulness

C. CHRISTMAS SONG PRESENTATION – 15%


D. BEHIND THE SCENE/ BLOOPERS/ INTERVIEWS – 5%
- Uniqueness
- Fun to watch with
IV. ADDITION & DEDUCTION OF POINTS

The following points will be added/deducted to/from the total score of the group;

A. ADDITION
Members Participation - complete participation will have additional 1 point

B. DEDUCTION
 Failure to submit final AV on time will result to 0.5 point deduction per day of delay.
 Failure to present on the given time limit will result to 0.5 point deduction for every 30
seconds exceeding the 8 minutes performance.
 Failure to comply with the KPOP famous act/song/dance will result to 1 point deduction (i.e.
if the group showcased non KPOP songs except Christmas songs, 1 point will be deducted
from the total score).
 A deduction of 0.25 point for every single member that will not participate on the
presentation.
