Rationale
This lesson is builds on the previous lesson by discussing and exploring the role of fat in
our diet. It focuses on four types of fats – omega-3, unsaturated, saturated, and trans
fat. The purpose of the lesson is to educate students on the benefits of fat and dispel
the long associated notion that fat is bad for you.

Reflections
“All lessons we do will have strong points and parts we would do differently if we were to do the
lesson again. As part of your professional growth and development as a teacher, you should jot
down a couple of points for improvement at the end of a lesson. This self-assessment will allow
you to develop exponentially faster than if you were to do no reflection.”
