DEDICATION OF HYMN BOOKS (in memory of a variety of people)

Almighty God, giver of all good things,

we thank you for your generous bounty towards us,
shown in the generosity of those
who have remembered with great thankfulness
their loved ones who now dwell with you;
as you have taught us to offer our praises
in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
to sing and make melody to you with all our hearts,
so now bless the hymns to be sung in this church,
that they may bring enrichment to our worship,
joy and strength to our lives,
and ever greater glory to your name.
We ask you now to bless these hymn books
which we no dedicate to your service;
Father, Son + and Holy Spirit. Amen.

DEDICATION OF PEW BIBLES

Adapted by Revd Kat Campion-Spall from the Collect for Bible Sunday
Blessed are you, Lord God,
for you have caused all Holy Scriptures to be written for our learning.
We now dedicate these Bibles in your service and to your glory.
Pour out your blessing on all that read them,
that through them your Word may be revealed.
Grant all who use them so to hear, read, mark, and inwardly digest them,
that, by patience and comfort of your holy Word,
they may embrace and for ever hold fast the hope of everlasting life,
which you have given us in our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Lord be with you

and also with you.
Blessed are you, Lord God of our salvation,
For you sent your Son Jesus Christ
to be the Light of the World
to shine on those who dwell in darkness
and in the shadow of death,
to bring life and hope to all creation,
and so that, through him, we might also become
a light to lighten all nations.
Blessed are you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Amen.

The candle stand is presented by the donor using these or other appropriate words:
Will you receive this gift in memory of N,
and dedicate it to the glory of God?

The Rector responds:

On behalf of this parish, may I thank you for this gift.
In the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ,
I dedicate this votive candle stand
in memory of N,
and to the glory of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
A candle is lit, and a short time of quiet is kept
God of all consolation,
You are always more ready to hear than we are to pray;
May those who light candles here
in memory of those they love but see no longer
or in concern for those who are suffering,
know the consolation that their prayers are heard in heaven.
Amen.
SHORT DEDICATION FOR ALTAR HANGING
Blessed are you, Lord God,
author of life and conqueror of death.
As we celebrate your love,
revealed to us in word and sacrament,
so shall our lips tell of all your marvellous deeds,
and our lives reveal your glory.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

DEDICATION OF (Custom built) ACCESS RAMP
The Lord be with you
And also with you.
Scripture Reading:
I was glad when they said unto me:
Let us go into the house of the Lord.
Today we give you thanks, Heavenly Father,
For the completion of this ramp,
For the beauty of the wood from which it is made,
For the skill and time and attention to detail
offered by N, who made it,
And for the ease of access that it has brought,
That all who seek you in this place of prayer
May be able to enter and find you here.

Prayer:
And so we pray for all who will use this ramp, on wheels or on foot.
For all who would love to come into church, but still cannot,
And for all who could come into church, but do not,
That they all may find a way to seek and find
your presence with them.
Dedication:
And so we dedicate this ramp
In the service of your people,
And to your glory,
Almighty God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Amen.

The Rector introduces the Dedication of new kneelers

made in memory of N and N.
Blessed are you, Lord God,
For you are always more ready to hear us
Than we are to pray,
and your grace in accepting what we offer
is always greater than our generosity.
The birth of your beloved Son at Bethlehem
drew shepherds and wise men
to kneel in and worship;
as we come into your presence,
draw us also to kneel in wonder
at heaven touching earth,
and to offer you, like them,
our prayers and praise.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The current churchwarden presents the kneelers, and the Rector thanks him/her.
Dedication:
In the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ,
I dedicate these kneelers to the glory of God
and to the memory of your servants N and N,
in the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
DEDICATION OF KNITTED POSADA SET
Introduction:
Thank you so much to those who have worked on this nativity set. It is now right that it should
be dedicated before it is used. So I now call upon N to present it formally.
The set is presented, and the Rector thanks all those involved.
Prayer:
Creator God,
You fashioned us in your own image
and remade us by your love in Jesus Christ.
We thank you for the creativity, skill and time
that has been offered in the production of this nativity set.
May it be a blessing to those who made it
and to those who will use it,
as it brings the Christmas story to life
in homes across the parish.

DEDICATION OF NOTICE BOARDS
Introduction:
It is a great pleasure to dedicate these three wonderful new notice boards today, which have been
provided by members of the congregation in memory of departed loved ones.
N says: I present to you this notice board in memory of ….
The Rector says: May this notice board be used for the glory of God and for the mission and
ministry of his church.
Blessed are you, Lord God,
For you revealed yourself to your people
That we might come to know you,
And knowing you, love you as you have loved us.
You have commissioned your Church throughout the ages
To bring the light of that knowledge
To a world in darkness.
So give us grace to communicate your word, to share your gospel,
to be a visible presence in this community,
and to live our faith in such a way that all may see it.

Dedication prayer:
Almighty God, giver of all good things,
we thank you for your generous bounty towards us,
and it is our greatest joy to return to your service this token of our love for you. We ask you to
bless this notice board which we now dedicate to your service; Father, Son + and Holy Spirit.
Amen.
DEDICATION OF GLASS CRUET SET
Introduction:
In recent months we have noticed that the glass cruets that we use at Holy Communion were
getting rather the worse for wear, and then actually broken. We are blessed in being able to
use some of the generous legacy that ……… has left to [this church] to replace the cruets so it
seems appropriate that these now be dedicated in her memory.

Scripture Reading:
Jesus took the wine and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Drink this, all of you, this is the blood of
the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as
often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’
Dedication:
I dedicate these vessels to the glory of God
and in memory of his faithful servant N
in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Whose Son Jesus Christ gave us this sacrament,
Grant that all who continue to remember him
and to share the bread and wine in his name
as he commanded us
may be sustained by his presence
and enjoy for ever the riches of his blessings;
Through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

BRINGING BACK INTO SERVICE A RE-SILVERED CHALICE

Introduction:
It is a great pleasure to be able to welcome back into service this beautiful chalice. When we
discovered that the lacquer was beginning to peel off, we were delighted to discover that it would
be possible to completely re-silver it, making it fit for use again.
The chalice was given in memory of …………. (by………………..), and was restored through a
generous donation by ………….., and by the skill of a specialist of a silversmith. We are thankful
to all those people.
Once a chalice has been consecrated, it stays consecrated, no matter how many times you re-plate
it, but it did seem appropriate to rededicate it, which is what I will do now.
Scripture reading:
Jesus took the cup of wine and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Drink this, all of you, this is the
blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins. Do
this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Whose Son Jesus Christ gave us the sacrament of his body and blood,
Grant that all who receive the wine from this cup,
Which we now rededicate for us in your church,
may be sustained by his presence
and enjoy for ever the riches of his blessings;
Through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
