Questionnaire:

1. What are the priority programs and projects that DepEd implemented this school year?

 “One of the priority programs of DepEd is the E-CARP (Every Child A Reader
Program). It is implemented many year now but it is always been the top priority of
the Department. This program aims to reduce the number of non-readers if not
totally eradicate.”

2. What are the challenges, issues, and problems that they met in their division or district
in relation to curriculum implementation?

 “We’ve met different problems such as lack of teacher’s manual for Grade 6
teachers and different challenges such as large number of non-readers.”

3. What are the strategies they are implementing to address these issues, challenges,
and problems?

 “Teacher’s manual is the guide of teachers in making their daily lesson log every
day. Along with this is the curriculum guide. Because of unavailability of teacher’s
manual, the Division of Lipa City initiated its own project, the prototype lesson
plans for Grade 6 teachers. This prototype lesson plans were crafted by all the
Grade 6 teachers, from the 4 districts of Schools Division of Lipa City. These
serves as guide/manual of the teachers so that they will not have a hard time
making their lesson logs.”

 “Despite of the DepEd E-CARP, there are still reported non-readers in the Division
of Lipa City. There are students that have reached the secondary level that can’t
read. To address this problem, the Division of Lipa City reiterated to include in the
School Improvement Plan the school initiated project on reading. In the SIP, the
school heads will identify the activities or interventions that will address the
problem of non-readers. There are schools that CIP or the Continuous
Improvement Project to lessen the number of their non-readers. In the CIP, we
identify the root cause of this problem through the voice of the customers.”
