Scene 1 : Rafiki and Tiki

Rafiki : Hello everyone! Im Rafiki and he is Tiki (TIKI TAKE A BOW). We are the wise monkeys of
Pride rock and the kings oldest advisors. Today we would like to tell you the story of Simba.

Tiki : Simba was born just a few moments ago to Sarabi and Mufasa. Mufasa is the king of Pride
rock and all the animals are gathering to welcome their new prince.

CIRCLE OF LIFE

Scene 2 - The Lions

Lionesses, Musafa, Sarabi, Zazu and Scar on Stage

(Scar music)
Scar : Why, hello hello!

Mufasa : Sarabi and I did not see you at the presentation of Simba

Scar :​ (fake horror)​ Oh! That was today, must have slipped my mind. I feel simply awful!

Zazu : Well slippery as your mind is, as the king's brother you should have been first in line.

Scar : I WAS first in line till that hairball was born

Sarabi : That ‘hairball’ is my son...and your future king.

Scar : Huh! Walks away

Sarabi : That Brother of yours! Why must he be such a kill joy?

Zazu : There is one in every family, Sire.

Sarabi : What are we going to do with him?

Zazu : He’d make a very smart rug!

Mufasa : Zazu! He’s my brother!

Zazu : And I’m your personal assistant. I shall always give you the right advice. Just think a nice,
bug rug. And whenever he gets dusty - you could take him out..and beat him!

(interlude music)
Scene 3 - THE SUNRISE
Rafiki, Tiki, Simba and Mufasa
Rafiki : The Sun is rising on a new day on Pride rock

Tiki : Simba is ready to come out and play

Simba : Dad! Dad! Come on...We got to go….DAAAAD!

Mufasa : Ok Ok, I am here!

(Walk to the front of the stage)

Mufasa : Look Simba, everything the light touches is our kingdom. One day the sun will set on
my time and rise with you as the new king.

Simba : WOW! And all this will be mine?

Mufasa : Everything the light touches...but not that shadowy place in the distance. You must
never go there.

Simba : But I thought a king can do whatever he wants

Mufasa : Within our kingdom yes but not beyond our kingdom.

( Sit on the side)

Narrator ( Aanya ) : Mufasa tells Simba about the circle of life. About how lions eat deer for
their food, and that may seem cruel, but when lions die their bodies turn to dust.
From that dust, grass grows - the deer eats the grass and that's how every animal is connected
through the circle of life.

Scene 4 - SCAR TRICKS SIMBA

Muconda, Safina , Scar and Simba

(SINISTER MUSIC PLAYS. SCAR STEPS ON STAGE LOOKING OVER THE SHADOWLANDS. SIMBA
ENTERS.]
Simba: Hey, Uncle Scar! Guess what? My Dad just showed me the whole kingdom. And I’m
going to rule it all one day!

Scar: Well, forgive me for not leaping with joy….So your father showed you the WHOLE
kingdom, did he? But he didn’t show you what’s beyond that border, huh? [POINTS IN THE
DISTANCE.]
Simba: [DISAPPOINTED] Well, no. He said I can’t go there.

Scar: And he’s right. It’s far too dangerous. An elephant graveyard is no place for a young
prince. Ooooops!!

Simba: An elephant what?? Whoa!!

Scar: Oh dear, I’ve said too much. Promise me you’ll never visit that place.

Simba: No problem.

Scar: There’s a good lad. Now run along. And remember … [SLYLY] it’s our little secret.
[SCAR EXITS.]

Narrator (Ayush P) : So saying, Scar leaves the place with an evil smile.
While Simba, oblivious to his uncle's intentions, jumps with excitement and runs over to see his
best friend.

Simba: I need to find my friend, Nala, and tell her this secret.

[MUCONDA AND SAFINA ENTER]

Narrator(Ayush P): Just as he said those words, Nala’s parents walked in. Muconda was her
father and Safina was her mother.

Muconda: Tell Nala what secret?

Safina: Yes, as Nala’s mother, I'd like to know about this secret.

Simba: I just wanted to tell her about some place. The ah…Watering Hole.

Safina: Nala is on her way to the Watering Hole with Zazu now.

Muconda: If you hurry, you can catch them. Go!

Scene 5 - WATERING HOLE

Zazu, Nala and Simba

[NALA AND ZAZU WALK IN FROM THE FLOOR ENGAGED IN CONVERSATION AND STAND ON
STAGE.]

Simba: Nalaaaaaa …… Nalaaaaaa ……. Hi Nala.

Nala: Hi Simba.
Simba: Listen, we need to ditch Zazu. I have a really cool place to show you. An elephant
graveyard!

Nala: Wow! , so how do we ditch the dodo? Oh, I know. [WHISPERS SOMETHING TO SIMBA.
THEY BOTH NOD AND AGREE; AND STEP ONTO THE STAGE.]

Simba: Hey Zazu, as your future king, I order you to leave us alone. We don’t need a personal
assistant.

Zazu: [SLOWLY AND CLEARLY] And as Personal Assistant to the PRESENT king, let me inform
you, I have orders NEVER to leave you alone.

Simba: Oh, I wish I was the king RIGHT NOW!

[JUST CAN’T WAIT TO BE KING ]

Zazu: Move aside! Move aside! Shoo! Shoo! Simba! Nala! Where are they?

Scene 6 - ELEPHANT GRAVEYARD

Nala, Zazu, Hyena, Simba, Mufasa & Muconda

[SIMBA AND NALA ENTER THE ELEPHANT GRAVEYARD]

Nala: We lost him! I told you we would. He’s a dodo.

Simba: This is it …. We made it!

Nala: It's really creepy. ! We could get in big trouble.

Simba: Aren’t you brave?

Nala: You bet I am!

Simba: Come on, then. Let’s check it out.

[ZAZU ENTERS]

Zazu: No, let’s check OUT of here!

Simba: Oh no!! Zazu!!

Nala: Busted!!

Zazu: Stop this nonsense right now! We are all in real danger here!
Simba: Danger? I laugh in the face of danger! Ha! Ha! Ha!

(HYENA LAUGHTER)

Hyena 1(Dhruv): Well, well, well. Look , what have we got here?

Hyena 2(Kush): Look at that! Hey Ed, get over here.

(HYENA LAUGHTER)

Hyena 3 (Ishaan): Helloooooo!

[HYENAS CIRCLE THE THREE OF THEM. SINISTER MUSIC CONTINUES.]

Hyena 1(Dhruv) : A trio of trespassers!!

Zazu: Sorry, we’re here by accident. A simple mistake, I promise. We don’t have GPS, you see.
Hee! Let’s go kids.

Hyena 4 (Nikunj): Whoa, whoa, wait, wait! I know you!You’re Mufasa’s little stooge.

Hyena 5 (Agastya) : That would that make you?

Simba: The future king.

Hyena 6 (Divyaan): And do you know what we do to future kings who step out of their
kingdom?

Hyena 1 (Dhruv): We like them to stick around for dinner.

Hyena 3 (Ishaan): Yes, we could have whatever’s ….. lion around?[HYENA LAUGHTER] Get it …
LION around?

[HYENA LAUGHTER]

Hyena 4 (Nikunj) : Oh wait, wait, wait. [RUNS TO THE FRONT STAND] I got one too! I would love
a juicy CUB sandwich! [HYENA LAUGHTER]

[SUDDENLY THERE ARE LOUD ROARS.]

[ENTER MUFASA AND MUCONDA. HYENAS FLEE.]

Mufasa: You disobeyed me! [ORDERS SIMBA] Stand over there! [TELLS MUCONDA] Muconda,
Will you take Nala home? I need to have a long talk with Simba.
Muconda: I need to have a long talk with Nala too. [MUCONDA AND NALA EXIT INTO THE
WINGS.]

Zazu: [WALKS UP TO SIMBA] Simba ….. Good luck.

Mufasa: Simba, I’m very disappointed. You could have been eaten! And you put Nala in danger
too!

Simba: I was just trying to be brave. Like you.

Mufasa: I’m only brave when I HAVE to be, Simba. Being brave doesn’t mean you go LOOKING
for trouble.

Simba: I’m sorry Dad. I really and truly am. Dad, we’ll always be together, right? Forever?

Mufasa: Simba, I can’t be there forever. Look at the stars. The great kings of the past look
down from those stars. In the future, whenever you feel alone, those kings will always be there
to guide you. AND SO WILL I.

Scene 7 - BE PREPARED
Hyenas and Scar
(ELEPHANT GRAVEYARD)

Dhruv : Man, I hate lions.

Divyaan : Man, I hate lions too!

Kush : Man, I hate lions THREE!

Agastya: So pushy!

Nikunj: And hairy!

Ishaan: And scary!

Dhruv : You know, if it weren't for those lions, we'd be runnin’ the joint.

Scar: [FROM THE WINGS] Oh, surely we lions are not THAT bad.

All : Huh, who’s that?

[SCAR ENTERS]

Nikunj: Oh Scar, it’s just you.

Scar: JUST me?

Kush: We thought it was ….. Mufasa.

Agastya: [SCARED] Yeah. Mufasa. Now that’s power. I just hear that name and shudder.

Dhruv : [SCARING ED] MUFASA!

Ishaan : [SHIVERING] Oooh, do it again.

Divyaan : [SCARING ED] MUFASA!

Ishaan: Ooooooh!

Nikunj and Kush: MUUUFAAASAAAA!

[ED SCREAMS AND PRETENDS TO FAINT. ALL START LAUGHING CRAZILY.]

Scar: I’m surrounded by fools. Now, listen carefully. It’s time for a new king. One you don’t
have to be scared of……… [LONGISH PAUSE]

Nikunj: And who would that be?

Scar: ME!

Nikunj, Ishaanj and Dhruv: Ooooooh!

Scar: If you help me – I’ll let you come to Pride Rock – I’ll make you my advisors.

Agastya, Divyaan and Kush: Oooooooh!

Scar: But for that, we need to finish off Mufasa AND Simba. Listen …. [ALL GET INTO A
HUDDLE]

[BACKGROUND MUSIC PLAYS AS NARRATORS SPEAK.]

Narrator (Ayush N) : Now Scar had a wicked idea. He told the hyenas to creep up on some
animals and scare them. That would make them panic and run here and there, creating a
stampede.

Narrator (Charmi) : A stampede! My gosh! That’s when animals running together in a panic –
trip and fall – and sadly get crushed by the others. The hyenas did as they were told …. And
look at what happens next.

Scene 8 - STAMPEDE
Mufasa, Simba, Scar and all Animals
[MUFASA AND SIMBA JUST PLAYING AROUND. SUDDENLY MUFASA STOPS.]
Mufasa: Simba, I hear something. [LOOKS AROUND...STOMPING] Oh no, a stampede. Run,
Simba, run!

[SIMBA RUNS OFF AND SITS ON THE STEPS, CLOSING HIS EYES AND EARS IN FEAR.]
[STAMPEDE SCENE. MUFASA DIASAPPEARS. STAGE CLEARS.]
[SIMBA LOOKS UP. LOOKS BEHIND. GOES BACK ON THE STAGE.]

Simba: Dad? Dad? Where are you?

[SINISTER MUSIC. SCAR ENTERS.]

Scar: Simba, what have you done?

Simba: There was a stampede. [SNIFFING] It was an accident. [SNIFFING] What am I going to
do?

Scar: You ran away from your father to save yourself? YOU COWARD! Now listen, you better
run away forever. Run – and never return!

[SIMBA RUNS OFF CRYING. BACKGROUND MUSIC AS NARRATORS SPEAK.]

Narrator ( Sara): So Simba ran away broken hearted. And all the creatures of the jungle thought
he’d been crushed along with Mufasa….(pause) And thus began a new era.

[PAUSE AS HYENAS PRESENT THE THRONE AND CROWN. SARABI, SAFINA, MUCONDA TAKE
POSITION.] Scar became the king, bringing with him all the hungry and horrible hyenas. And
even though all the other animals hated it – they had no choice.

Narrator (Ayush N): My, oh my, how terrible! But what about Simba? Poor kid. Let’s hope
everything works out for him.

Scene 9 - HAKUNA MATATA

[SIMBA IS LYING ON THE STAGE, ‘ASLEEP’. PUMBAA IS STANDING OVER HIM AND STARING. THE
OTHER ANIMALS ARE IN THEIR POSITIONS, ‘GRAZING’.]
[TIMON ENTERS]

Timon: What a beautiful morning!

Pumbaa: Hey, Timon! You better come look at this.

Timon: Jeez, it’s a lion! Run Pumbaa, move it!

Pumbaa: Relax! It’s just a LITTLE lion. Look at him. He’s so cute.

Zebra (Deetya) : Are you nuts? It’s a lion.

Monkey ( Ruhaan): Lions eat guys like us.

Giraffe (Adyaant): But he’s so little.

Elephant (Aakash) : He’s gonna get bigger!

Deer (Aliesha): If we make friends with him – he’ll never harm us. Anyway, we’ll leave you two
to it.

[SIMBA GETS UP AND STARTS WALKING TO THE FRONT STAND SLOWLY AND SADLY)

Timon: Hey, hey, hey! You ok, kid?

Pumbaa: Hey, where are you going?

Timon: My, he looks blue.

Pumbaa: I’d say he looks brownish-gold.

Timon: No, no, no. I mean he’s sad.

Pumbaa: Ohhh!

[PUMBAA AND TIMON JOIN SIMBA ON THE FRONT STAND]

Timon: So, where are you from?

Simba: Who cares, I can’t go back.

Pumbaa: What did you do?

Simba: I don’t wanna talk about it.

Timon: And we don’t wanna hear about it.

Pumbaa: You know kid, in times like these, my buddy Timon here always says HAKUNA
MATATA.

Simba: What?

Timon: Ha – Ku – Na – Ma – Ta – Ta. It means no worries.

Simba: Thanks! I’m starving. I could eat a whole hippo.

Timon: Eeeeeeaaaaaaoooooo!! Please, no hippo!

Simba: What?

Zebra: No hippo … no zebra

Monkey : No Monkey!

Giraffe: No giraffe …

Elephant: No elephant …

Deer: No deer…

Simba: Whoa, whoa, whoa, stop! Then what DO I eat.

Pumbaa: Listen kid, if you live with us; you eat like us.

[TIMON SCOOPS UP A BUNCH OF BEETLES AND BUGS FROM THE WINGS]

Timon: Like this. [SHOWS SIMBA]

Simba: Beetles! Bugs! Yuckk!

Zebra/Giraffe/Elephant/Deer: Yummy, yummy, yummy!

Pumbaa: [TAKING ONE] They are deeeeeelicious. [GULPS ONE]

Timon: [TAKING ONE] You don’t know what you’re missing kid. [GULPS ONE]

Simba: [PICKS ONE AND LOOKS AT IT LIKE HE’S DISGUSTED] Oh well ….. Hakuna Matata …

(HAKUNA MATATA SONG)

Scene 10 - Pride Rock in ruins

Narrator (Divyes) : Years went by and Simba grew into a strong lion, and lived happily with his
new friends. In the meantime, back at Pride Rock, everything was in ruins. Most of the animals
had left the kingdom in fear of the hyenas and Scar.

Nikunl : Hey, Boss!

Divyaan : We got a bone to pick with you.

Dhruv : there's no food, no water.

Scar: It's the lionesses' job to do the hunting…

Kush: Yeah, but they won't go hunt.

(Lionesses enter)

Scar : Your timing couldn’t be better

Lioness Aanya : Scar, you have to do something, we are being forced to overhunt

Lioness Insiya : If we stop now, there’s a chance for things to be alright again.

Lioness Sanaa : You need to control the Hyenas...They are destroying Prideland.

Scar : Don’t tell me what to do! Get out of here and find us some food!

Scene 11 - Discovery Scene

[RAFIKI AND TIKI WALK ONTO THE FRONT STAND FROM THE FLOOR]

Rafiki: Tiki, what has happened here. Things are getting from bad to worse.

Tiki: Rafiki, the present is so bad; I wonder what the future will be like.

Rafiki: Let us try some magic after all these years and see if we can look into the future.

Tiki: Magic Cauldron here’s a spell; show us the future nice and well. [THROWING IN HERBS
AND MIXING]

Rafiki: I can see something. Look! What is it? No, wait. WHO is it? [LONG PAUSE] Simba!

Tiki: He’s ALIVE!

Scene 12 - IN THE JUNGLE

Timon, Pumba, Simba and Nala

[PUMBAA TOTALLY SPOOKED RUNS ON AND OFF THE STAGE YELLING] [A LIONESS CHASES HIM]

Pumbaa: Timon!! Help!! Simba!! Help!!

Timon: Pumbaa, what is it!

Pumbaa: [JUMPS BEHIND TIMON] This lioness wants to eat me!

[NALA MOVES SLOWLY TOWARDS THEM, SNARLING. SUDDENLY SIMBA COMES TO THE
RESCUE.]

Simba: Stop! Don’t even think about it.

Nala: How dare you come in the way.

Simba: [SURPRISED]Huh?? Nala????

[NALA INSTANTLY BACKS OFF AND LOOKS AT SIMBA.]

Simba: [WALKS TO NALA] Is it really you?

Nala: Who are you?

Simba: It’s me. Simba.

Nala: WHAT? No way. It can’t be true.

Simba: It is!

Nala: Oh gosh, I can’t believe it. It’s so great to see you, Simba.

Simba: It’s great to see you too.

Timon: HEY! [GOES OVER TO THEM] WHAT’S GOING ON HERE?

Simba: Timon, this is Nala; she’s my best friend.

Timon: Friend??

Simba: Hey, come here Pumbaa, don’t be scared. Nala, this is Pumbaa. Pumbaa, this is Nala.

Timon: Whoa, whoa, whoa!! Time out! Let me get this straight. You know her. She knows
you. But she wants to eat him. And everybody’s okay with this??!! [FALLS DRAMATICALLY TO
HIS KNEES] DID I MISS SOMETHING??

Simba: Relax, Timon.

Nala: Simba, I still can’t believe it. You’re alive! Which means you’re the true king! You must
come back with me to Pride rock.
Simba: No, I’m not the king. Maybe I was going to be. But that was a long time ago.

Timon: Let me get this straight: You’re the king?

Pumbaa: And you never told us!

Simba: Hey, I’m still the same guy.

Timon: Huh! [WALKS AWAY AND EXITS]

Pumbaa: Huh! [WALKS AWAY AND EXITS]

Simba: Isn’t this a great place?

Nala: It is … but I don’t understand. You’ve been alive all this time; why didn’t you come back
to Pride Rock?

Simba: Well, I just needed to live my own life. And it’s great! No one needs me.

Nala: Yes, we do! You’re the king!

Simba: I’m not the king. Uncle Scar is.

Nala: Simba, he let the hyenas take over our kingdom with him.

Simba: What?

Nala: Everything’s destroyed. There’s no food, no water.

Simba: I can’t go back.

Nala: I left to get help. And I found you. You are our only hope.

Simba: I can’t. Please leave. [Very sadly]

[NALA EXITS. SIMBA STARTS PACING ON STAGE.]

SCENE 13 - Meeting Mufasa

Monkey, Mufasa and Simba

Narrator (Arjun): That night Simba could get no sleep.

Simba: She’s wrong. I can’t go back. I can’t change the past.

Narrator 4( Arjun) : He wandered sadly under the stars and looked up at them.

Simba: You said you’d always be there for me, father, [SITS SADLY] but you are not.

Narrator (Arjun) : And Simba remembered the time he was under those same stars with his
father – many years ago.

Rafiki: Asante sana! Squash Banana! We we nugu! Mi mi apana!

Simba: Creepy little monkey. Who are you?

Rafiki: The question is: whooo... are you?

Simba: I thought I knew.... Now I'm not so sure.

Rafiki: You're Mufasa's boy!

Simba: You knew my father?

Rafiki: {Monotone} Correction-- I know your father.

Simba: I hate to tell you this, but… he died. A long time ago.

Rafiki: Nope. Wrong again! Hah hah hah! He's alive-- and I'll show him to you. Look down there.

Simba: {Disappointed} That's not my father. That's just my reflection.

Rafiki : Noo. Look ... harder. You see ... he lives in you.

[VOICE OVER THE LOUD SPEAKER]

Mufasa: [SOFTLY] Simba …

Simba: Father?

Mufasa: Remember what I said years ago? The great kings of the past look down from the
stars. I’m right here and will always be.

Simba: Yes father. Thank you.

Mufasa: Look inside yourself, Simba. You were born to rule. Remember, you are my son; and
the ONE TRUE KING.

Scene 14 - Going back

 Animals, Simba, Timon, Pumba

Narrator (Charmi): The next morning Simba had a small meeting with Timon, Pumbaa and his
jungle friends.They were all very excited for Simba and were hoping he’d do the right thing.

Timon: So …. What are you going to do?

Simba: I’m not sure. Going back means I’ll have to face my past.

Pumbaa: The past doesn’t matter. It’s over.

[ZEBRA SMACKS SIMBA ON THE HEAD WITH A STICK]

Simba: Owwww! What was that for?

Zebra: It doesn’t matter. It’s in the past…. Understood?

Simba: [RUBBING HIS HEAD] Yeah but it still hurts.

Deer: Oh yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it – you can either run from it or learn from
it.

[ELEPHANT SWINGS A STICK AT SIMBA AGAIN BUT THIS TIME HE RUNS AND MISSES]

Elephant: Hah! You see! You’re learning already!

Giraffe: So … what ARE you going to do?

Simba: First I’m going to take your sticks!! [CHORUS LAUGHS]

[SIMBA GATHERS THE STICKS AND SUDDENLY RUNS OFF DOWN THE STEPS WITH THEM]

Simba: Bye, bye!

Monkey: Hey, where are you going?

Simba: I’m going back.

All Animals: Hurray!!

Scene 15 - CONFRONTATION
Scar, all Lions, Simba, Animals, Timon, Pumba and Nala

[SCAR TAKES POSITION]

Scar: SARABI!!!! SAFINA!!!!

Sarabi & Safina: Yes, Scar?

Scar: Where is your hunting party?

Aanya: We are right here, Scar. Always with Sarabi and Safina.

Insiya : And trying to hunt day and night.

Scar: Well, you are not doing your job. The hyenas have been complaining of hunger.

Sana : There is no food, Scar.

Safina: The herds have moved away from our kingdom.

Scar: No! You’re just not looking hard enough.

Aanya : It’s over, Scar! There is nothing left.

Insiya : That’s true. The only thing to do – is to leave Pride Rock.

Scar: No one is going ANYWHERE. IT’S AN ORDER.

Muconda: We won’t take orders from you anymore, Scar.

Scar: Stay out of this, Muconda. I am talking to the hunting party. I am the king. I can do
whatever I want.

Muconda: If you were half the king Mufasa was, you would never have let this happen to Pride
Rock.

Scar: [VERY ANGRILY.] I’M TEN TIMES THE KING MUFASA WAS!!

[ROAR] [EVERYONE LOOKS TOWARDS THE WINGS – CHURCHSIDE.]

Narrator (Divyes ): Suddenly there was a loud roar.
Narrator (Divyes): And guess who it was?
[SIMBA ENTERS]

Simba: YOU’LL NEVER BE THE KING!

Sarabi: Mufasa?

Simba: No mother, it’s me, Simba.

Sarabi: Simba! You’re alive? How can that be?

Simba: It doesn’t matter. I’m back. I’m home. [SIMBA WALKS ANGRILY TOWARDS SCAR]

Simba: Give me one reason why I shouldn’t rip you apart? Look at what you’ve done to Pride
Rock!

Scar: [SCAR FALLS TO HIS KNEES AND PRETENDS TO BE APOLOGETIC.] Oh Simba! You must
understand. The pressures of ruling a kingdom!

Nala: A kingdom that’s no longer yours.

Simba: Nala’s right. Step down, Scar. Either step down or fight.

Scar: Oh, must it all end with a fight? I’d hate to be responsible for the death of a FAMILY
MEMBER. Wouldn’t you agree, Simba?

[TIMON ENTERS, FOLLOWED BY THE REST.]

Timon: Uh, uh,uh! That’s not gonna work, Scar. Not anymore.

Zebra: He was NEVER responsible for anyone’s death!

Deer : But he was so little and scared … that you bullied him into feeling that way.

Elephant: And you made him run away!

Giraffe : But it’s all in the past now.

Monkey : Isn’t that right, Simba?

Simba: That’s right.

Narrator (Aanya): And so saying, Simba and his friends shooed Scar out of Pride Rock.
And all the animals of the jungle were so happy!

[SIMBA WALKS BACK TO THE STAGE]

Simba: I’m ready to take my position as the true king of Pride Rock.

Everyone: YAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!
