Gulayan Sa Paaralan Accomplishment Report

I. Introduction:

“Reap what you sow’’ Mrs. Delia S. Burgos, The school EPP coordinator
initiated contest for Parents and stakeholders of Kindergarten-Grade VI pupils.
Gulayan sa Paaralan is one of the best way on how we can improve learning
especially to the Barrio school like Palo Alto Elementary School simply because
utilizing school gardening for supplementary feeding program can be a tool in aiding
the major reasons why a child drops out of school- poverty, hunger, malnutrition.

Aside from implementing school gardening for the purpose of feeding

programs is inculcating among our learners the values of good health and nutrition,

industry, love of labour and caring for others and this will teach them how to

improve their nutritional status, learning where food comes from and how planting

promotes beautification of their surroundings. It also serves as a good simulating

activity in which they will learn leadership and rendering good service. Planting as

one of the livelihood skills that learner will acquire in school can be applied and

replicated in their respected households. It will raise the level of the public

consciousness on the nutritional dimensions and economic benefits.

II. Accomplishment

To support the program’s aim in lessening hunger and malnutrition, Palo

Alto Elementary School put up a Gulayan sa Paaralan with joint efforts of
the teachers, parents and pupils. The rapport between the school and the
community set forth positive outcomes. The school was able to materialize a
vegetable garden such as Pechay, Sigarilyas, Okra, Bataw, Mustasa, alugbati,
kangkong, string beans, Gulay Pangkusina and Malunggay Tree.. The product
of the Gulayan are used in the feeding of the school with utmost priority
given to the underweight. Feeding program is conducted daily and it is
evident that more pupils attend classes; they are more active in classroom
discussion and the number of underweight pupils was reduced. Seedlings
different vegetables are still kept in some bottles for the time being.
However, the intermediate pupils were already able to transfer few
seedlings in different areas within the vicinity of the school.

CHART
The chart shows that there is a continues progress from 1st to 3RD
Quarter in implementing the Gulayan sa Paaralan Project. In the coming
