RETROISSANCE
“Retroissance” by its literal definition is a confluence of two terms: ‘retrospection’ and ‘renaissance’.
It is an approach that theorises a revival or enhancement of interest and application of established socio-
cultural practices. It pertains to the art, customs and lifestyle that is native and sustainable to a relatable
geography.

INFLUENCE
The particular geography in this context is an identifiable area, not necessarily bounded precisely, where such
influences pre-exists without significant overlaps. They could be characteristic of tribes, ethnicities , linguistics,
secular or even dictated by geographical delineations (viz. by way of rivers, mountains, oceans for instance). It
is these physical barriers that have incubated and nurtured the very ethos of ancestries that has led to what
we witness during present times. This does not merely pertain towards isolated communities across the
urban-rural divide. It is not going back in time. its a relatable discovery that extends beyond to how we
presently perceive heritage and history.

URBAN PARLANCE
In Urban Areas RETROISSANCE could be an approach to gentrification inspired by art and architecture based
on how structure along with its urban footprint can be brought closest to its originality.

Institutional Approach
We see Museums as beacons of Socio-cultural History. A symbolic reminiscence of how a civilisation
progressed at various points of centurial chronology. The Heritage Foundation takes it further with an inclusive
approach of not only curating and restoration initiatives but also having a know;knowledge forum for regulating
the quality of such activities.
