C 53 E/132 Official Journal of the European Communities EN 28.2.2002

Wednesday 13 June 2001

The following spoke during the vote:

 Mr Blokland moved an oral amendment to the fourth indent of the preamble to add a reference to his
report A5-0175/2001 adopted on 31 May 2001. The President established that there was no opposi-
tion to voting on this oral amendment;
 Mrs Frassoni, on behalf of the Verts/ALE Group, moved an oral amendment to paragraph 8 replacing
the word ‘IGC’ with ‘reform’. The President established that there was no opposition to voting on this
oral amendment;
 Mr Oostlander, on behalf of the PPE-DE Group, moved two oral amendments to paragraph 40 replac-
ing the word ‘UÇK’ with ‘so-called UÇK’ and the words ‘armed groups’ with ‘allied groups’.
Mr Sakellariou, supported by more than twelve Members, opposed voting on these oral amendments
which were therefore not taken into consideration;
 Mr Andersson, on behalf of the PSE Group, proposed that the words ‘Republic of Macedonia’ in
paragraph 41 be replaced by ‘FYROM’ for the sake of linguistic consistency. The President agreed to
this proposal and the paragraph was adopted as amended. Mr Posselt and Mr Dupuis both maintained
that this amendment in fact amounted to a political change, and Mrs McKenna spoke on the vote on
paragraph 41. The President underlined that this correction was to make the text more coherent and
took responsibility for the vote which had been taken.
