Abstract

Latin American philosophical thought,

mainly since the political emancipation of
Latin America, has been persistently
besieged by the question of its identity
within the world philosophical scene, a
question that in turn includes the questions
of its legitimacy, authenticity and originality.
If the universalist trend has persisted in
following the parameters of European
philosophy, the Americanist line has
struggled to legitimize its intention to
philosophize from and in relation to its
specific socio-cultural circumstances. This
work covers the history of Latin American
philosophical thought from the point of view
of this set of problems, following, above all,
the americanist current.

January 2010

R. Fornet-Betancourt

The introduction to this study highlights the thesis that Eurocentrism has not yet been overcome. Especially
in the field of philosophy, it is easy to notice its apparent persistence and effect. This leads, in the case of
Latin America, to the present situation in which there is still a lot of prejudice against Latin American
philosophy. Against the background of this thesis, this work shows the ... [Show full abstract]

View from the top – in women’s own words: Insights into leadership from autobiographies
March 2017 · Human Resource Management International Digest
Brian Beal

Purpose: Leadership theories have moved from viewing leadership as an innate trait, towards models that
recognize leadership as a social construction. Alongside this theorization, gender and leadership remain of
considerable interest, particularly given the under-representation of women in leadership positions.
