We draw your attention to the massive destruction/damage caused by the recent rains and floods in nearly 22 districts/103 taluks of Karnataka state and the broad based relief measures announced by the state government to tide over the situation by remitting the funds through DBT to affected farmers/citizens We have for reference the above referred letter from the Chief Secretary, Gok informing us that certain banks are adjusting flood relief benefits provided by the state government to affected people during the recent floods thidugh DBT against the existing the loans availed by them, which is not only against the spirit of RBI Master directions but also depriving the affected person of much needed assistance during the troubled period further aggravating the distress of the farmers/customers. Keeping this in view, we hereby request you to instruct all your bank branches not to adjust relief benefits against the existing loan and to provide relief to the affected people in the state of Karnataka Your attention is also drawn to our letter ref no. 457/2019/2944/SLBC/HPRIF-177 dated:05-10-2019 for restructuring of eligible loans within stipulated time and other relief measures as set-out in RBI Master Directions.
