CHAPTER 4

RESULT
A reliability test are conducted on five persons to measure the blood
glucose level. The test are taken by using traditional invasive technique and
non invasive technique. Blood glucose measurements from both methods are
compared in Table 4.1. The percentage error between the two techniques are
calculated using the below formula,

Percentage error = Glucose level (invasive) – Glucose level (non invasive) *100
Glucose level (invasive)

Table 4.1 Comparison of blood glucose level measurements (Fasting)

Glucose level measurements Percentage

Invasive method Non invasive method
1 210.8 203 3.7

2 99.7 90 9.7
3 119.1 111 6.8
4 96.3 88 8.6

5 69 65 5.7

3 202.8 196 3.4

4 127.7 122 4.4

5 73 69 5.4

Results from the reliability test shows that, there is a good correlation
exist between the two methods to measure the glucose level. It is proved from
the low percentage error between invasive and non invasive method.
Glucose level measurements taken from non invasive method are
categorized in Table 4.3

CHAPTER 5
CONCLUSION
The project was successfully implemented and the BGM device was able
to detect different glucose concentration in the blood. It also determines the
required insulin dosage based on the Body Mass Index (BMI) of the person. The
experimental results shows that glucose concentration and voltage have a
strong relationship; voltage increases as glucose concentration decreases. The
percentage error obtained from the reliability test was less than 12% .This result
proves that the non invasive technique implemented in the device is reliable to
measure the glucose level in blood. This portable non invasive blood glucose
monitoring device is more beneficial for diabetic patients life in rural areas. It
is also used for normal people to keep their glucose level at normal range to
maintain a healthy life.

5.1 FUTURE WORK

There are various approaches that are recommended for future
implementation and for the development of this work. Along with that, the
infrared light of higher wavelength may lead to highly accurate result. In future,
reflection technique should be considered in our proposed design to get more
accuracy in glucose detection.
