One of Micromine’s powerful capabilities is Drill Hole (DH)displaying or Drill hole database

management.

Drill Hole database could be a very complex data, but Micromine can handle the data in different
way. Thousands of drill hole collars, DH survey, geology and geochemistry can be displayed
together in a very nice, easy to manage and interactive ways of displaying.

In this Micromine tutorial, I’ll try to show you how to create a new Drill Hole Database and
display in the vizex viewer.

To get started of creating DH database, please note that you will need the following data files on
your database.

1. Drill Hole Collar – contains collar data of your Drill Hole (Mandatory)
2. Interval files – this can be a geological data, or geochemical interval data (optional)

1. Prepare your Collar data. Make sure you have the following column in your data.

 Drill Hole ID
 Easting
 Northing
 Elevation
 Total Depth
 Additional data (option)

2. Now you already have a collar file on your MM database. You should also have a
collar survey file that contains information about orientation of your Drill Holes. The survey file
must contain at least these column below:

 Drill Hole ID
 Azimuth
 Dip
 Survey Depth

3. Once you have those two files, now you can continue to start creating Drill Hole Database.
4. The next step is to create DrillHole datanbase. See you in the next tutorial

To be continued….

This is the second step of creating new drillhole database on Micromine. Please read our
previous tutorial on preparing the drillhole database. In Micromine, when you want to create
drillhole database, you will need the following:

- Collar Data

- Survey Data (optional)

- Interval data (optional)

Please read the following tutorial to complete creating Drillhole database on Micromine.

Step 1. Go to Drillhole | Database | Create

Select Drill Hole Database and give the database name. In this example, we put DDH-Database
as the name. Then click Create

Step 2. Provide the required field

A new Drillhole Database window will be come up. Then on the Collar File field, provide the
drillhole collar file. It should contains information such as Hole field, Easting, Northing, Rl, total
depth,azimuth, dip
If you have drillhole survey file, enter the file on the Downhole survey section. Tick the
Downhole survey and then provide the required field on red. Finally press OK. We do not
include the interval files on this tutorial. Next, we will include the geochemistry file into the
database.

Step 3. Display the drillhole on Vizex

After creating drill hole database, you can display the drillhole on Vizex to preview in 3
dimensional. Double click on Drillhole trace and Drillhole Trace window will opened.
On the database field, select the database we’ve created on the previous step. Then move on the
Hole Name tab. Show hole name option should be enabled to display the drillhole ID.
On the collar tab, you can select the collar symbol, color and many more.
