1) Municipal Corporation (Dewas)
Dewas Municipal Corporation is the main governing body which operates within the municipal limits of Dewas
city. The Municipal Corporation is responsible for the provision of basic infrastructure services to the citizens. This
includes development and operation & maintenance of infrastructure like Water Supply, Solid Waste Management,
Transportation, etc.
In Madhya Pradesh, the Municipal Corporation is governed by the Madhya Pradesh Municipalities Act 1961.
• Maintenance of public places, public parks, recreation grounds, streets and sewers, irrespective of whether such
spaces are vested in the corporation or not; removing noxious vegetation, and abating all public nuisances.
• Printing and publishing such annual reports and returns on the administration of the corporation as the government
may by.
• Fulfilling any obligation imposed by the M.P. Municipality Act or any other law for the time being in force.
Observation:
• Municipality do not have the post of town planner and hence the major work which a planner does is not done in
Dewas
• They do not have digital record of registered properties and hence facilities are not given to all people .
• Many officers were not available in the department.
2) Dewas Development Authority:
It is an Autonomous Body framed under the section (38) of Nagar Tatha Gram Nivesh Adhiniyam
1973 by Govt. of Madhya Pradesh with the main purpose of implementing the city‟s development
plan effectively for its development
Objectives:
Working within the limits of the Municipal Corporation, the Development Authority has
implemented various proposals for acquisition of land, its development for the purpose of expansion
and improvement of town area.
• Make provision for Industrial Land in Corporations with other activity of the city.
• Safe transportation facility for the movement of goods & people.
• Water supply system to supply water to the Municipal Corporation from distant locations.
• Construction of building complexes under the Re-densification scheme published by the Govt. of
M.P. in 1995
Observation :
• The working of this authority is very good as there is good cooperation between various
departments within the Development authority.
• But there was lack in coordination with other departments like municipality, jal board , etc.
