The company involves in the manufacturing process of automotive spare parts which
is used in passenger’s vehicles as outer shell of internal combustion engines. The
company currently manufactures cylinder heads, EV motor housing, intake manifold,
oil pump and con rods. The methods of manufacturing process are given below:

All the parts in the DR automotive private limited were manufactured by the method
of forging. For manufacturing automotive parts there were two methods they are

The company uses the method of forging which all the forging works are done
through by the hi-tech imported machines. The forging machines are of two types
they are:

Closed die forging

Open die forging

Closed die forging:

Closed die forging is an machine were the machine is fully cover. Were it does not
emits

22
The company uses the machine called ELECTRO HYDRAULIC HOT CLOSED DIE
FORGING MACHINE which is imported from china. And it’s cost around 55,
00,000(approx.)

Forging Machine:

The forging machine shapes the metal or aluminum into a needed shape by the
hydraulic force which is obtained by the machine. The forging machines are of two
types:

Hydraulic press

Mechanical press

23
The machines were classified by the materials used in the machine

Hydraulic Press:

The hydraulic press is used particularly for the manufacture of aluminum components
and heavy steel or titanium components.

Mechanical Press:

Mechanical press is used for the purpose of large series production- usually 10 to
3000 pieces per month. They are suitable to any material these are preferably assigned
for the manufacturing of automotive components.

Manufacturing Process:

The automotive parts in the DR enterprises are manufacture with the help of three
machines were the material crosses three types of machines to come as an finished
product.

Computer numerical control (CNC) machine

Vertical milling control (VMC) machine

Polishing machines….

24
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machine:

The computer numerical machines helps to cut the metals as per to the required size
and want. By feeding the program in the computer via a small keyboard which is
similar to the traditional keyboard. The feed programs were stored in the memory of
the computer. The programmer can easily write the code and edit the programs as per
the requirements. These programs can be used for different parts. And they don’t have
to be repeated again and again.

By feeding the dimensions into the computer via programs. The computer knows
what has to be done exactly and carries out all the cutting processes. CNC machine
works like the robot. Which has to be fed with the programs and it follows your
instruction. The main purposes of these machines are to give perfect shapes like
rectangular, circle .etc.

25
Vertical Milling Control (VMC) Machine:

The VMC machine is a three axis machines for three dimensional work. The cutting
head in this machine is vertical. The VMC machines are used for cutting and slotting.
The machine has single, rotating and multiple cutting edges. It is mainly used for flat
or curved shapes with accuracy and good finishing

26
Polishing Machines:

The polishing machine is one kind of machine used for the surface treatment of the
aluminum parts. While manufacturing there are always die line, scratch, marks on the
surface of aluminum. This affects the quality and attractiveness in the market so with
the help of these polishing machines we can solve that problem.

The machine has a polishing wheel with polishing wax or Agent is used on the
surface of the cloth wheel as a polishing media. And the polishing process is a manual
process which cannot be done automatically for this type of automotive products

It makes the product shine

27
It increases the durability of the product

It makes the product stainless and easy to clean

Products Manufactured By the Company:

Cylinder head

Bed plate and crank case

EV motor housing

Intake manifold

Oil pump

Con rod type parts

Cylinder Head Gasket:

The cylinder head gasket is one of the spare parts. This is compressed between the
engine block and the cylinder head. The head gasket is used to avoid the coolant and

28
oil from mixing together. It seals the water and oil between the head and block. Any
connectivity of them will cause to engine failure otherwise it cause smoke from the
exhaust. It is used to maintain the coolant in the cooling manner.

Bed Plate and Crank Case:

The bed plates and crank case is used in the 4stroke engine which helps to support the
weight of the engine and avoids crash between the engine and the bearing. The
crankcase is connected to the pistons and which moves in a circular motion to move
the engine. The spark plugs which are placed at the top of pistons are used to lignite
the fuel and help to move them.

29
EV Motor Housing:

Every motor vehicle needs some power to start. If the vehicle is large it needs large
traction battery pack to power the electric motor and it should be plugged into the
charging station to charge. The EV MOTOR HOUSING helps to manage the flow of
electric energy which is delivered from the battery. And retains the power while the
engine is running.

30
Intake Manifold:

Always there should be a proper air and fuel mixture in your car cylinder to start. The
intake manifold is a series of tubes that distributes air to the engine. If the coolant oil
is get into the manifold the engine will get overheat it will stops the whole engine.
And also the intake manifold is designed to increase the horsepower of the engine

31
Oil Pump:

The oil pump is the important part which is used to pump and circulate the engine oil
under pressure to the bearings. Pistons and the crankcase of the engine and also it
assist in cooling the engine. If the oil pump pressure is low it completely ruins the
engine. And there are two types of oil pumps they are:

Twin gear pumps(can be mounted on the bottom of the engine)

Rotor pumps (can be mounted inside the engine)

32
Con Rod Type Parts:

The connecting rod is called as con rod in the company and it is an engine component
that transfers motion from the pistons to the crankshaft and functions as a liver arm.
Connecting rods are always made up of aluminum alloy to withstand the stress from
the combustion and also for the piston movement. If the connecting rod gets bad it
will create a knocking noise while the engine is running it will consumes excess of
oil.

33
Supply:

The manufactured goods were supplied to its collaborated company Hyundai motors
Indian limited and also supplied to the Mahindra heavy vehicles limited were the
company supplies mainly to this two companies and it also supplies to various types
of companies but these two companies are the major dealer of the DR enterprises.

Maintenance:

Manufacturing Waste Management:

Every manufacturing companies ejects some waste which is hazardous to humans

beings , animals and also to the nature.so the company has to dispose or to store in an
proper way to avoid the damages which can be caused by the waste. On this process
the company maintains eco-friendly so all the wastes of the company were preserved
to avoid environmental pollution.

34
The DR enterprise emits the waste chemicals and metal furnaces that are handled in
the following manner:

Fire Container
HSO Liquid

LPG Liquid Fire Container

Propyl alcohol Liquid Fire Container

Used oil Liquid Fire
Container

Empty chemical Solid Land contaminator Recycle

container

Holding furnace Solid Air contaminator Wet place

Melting furnace Solid Air contaminator Wet

All the solid and liquid types of waste were disposed in a manner which will not
affect the environment and the hazardous waste like chemicals and fire catching waste
were stored in a container and preserved in a containers. The company follows the
