DESCRIPTION
Introduction to characteristics and development of tourism industry to give the students a basic knowledge about the industry and its uniqueness. The topics include: hospitality
management, specific business aspects, the system and the details of tourism organizations / industries, and other factors that are related to hospitality operations.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES


• Providing the students with the basic knowledge about tourism and hospitality industry characteristics
• Providing the students with the basic knowledge about tourism and hospitality industry system.
• Understanding the relationships between tourism and hospitality industry with other sectors

A1 Understands the tourism concept, definitions, and characteristics
A2 Understands the important of tourist as travelling public, their motivations, and approach to segment tourists
A3 Understands the distinctive between services and goods, service experience, service quality, and how to maintain high-quality service
A4 Understands the roles of service distribution intermediaries, the roles of travel agencies, tour wholesalers, and how internet change the distributions
A5 Understands the importance of transportation in land, water, and air transportation
A6 Understands the MICE industry in Tourism
A7 Understands the special events in Tourism

CLASS POLICY
1. Students must attend 85% of attendance (max. 2 absent)
2. Students must bring the text book everytime attending the class; if not they can’t join the class.
3. Students should wear complete uniform when entering class
4. Mobile phones must be in silent mode during class
5. All assignments must be collected in the hard copy and soft copy form
6. Rules and regulation related to attitude & behavior and absenteeism must follow STPPH’s policy
