INTRODUCTORY RITE
Commentator: (when everybody’s in place and ready for the Mass)

INTRODUCTION:
“For as a young man marries a young woman, so shall your sons marry you, and as the bridegroom
rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you”. Isaiah 62:5

Dear friends, we are gathered here today to witness and become part of this momentous event in
the life of Kit and Ciara. We have come to celebrate with them the beginning of their new life
together as husband and wife.

And as they profess their vows of commitment to love and to care for each other from this day
onward, let us also pray with them, that their union in love will be blessed with constant fidelity,
countless forgiveness, and enduring care for each other, for as long as they live.

We likewise pray that they may be blessed with a happy and healthy Christian family whose
presence in the community may become a living proclamation of God’s love, fidelity and peace.

With our presider Monsignor. Benjamin Torreto, DCC let us now all rise for our entrance song.
Opening Song: Glory and Praise
Glory and praise to our God In His wisdom He strengthens us
Who alone gives light to our days Like gold that's tested in fire
Many are the blessings He bears Though the power of sin prevails
To those who trust in His ways Our God is there to save
We the daughters and sons of Him Every moment of every day
Who built the valleys and plains Our God is waiting to save
Praise the wonders our God has done Always ready to seek the lost
In every heart that sings To answer those who pray

GREETINGS
Presider : We are gathered here in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Spirit.
All : Amen.

Wedding Liturgy – Kit Ezra and Ciara Dwyn 3

Presider : May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of our Father
Almighty and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

All : And with your spirit.

Presider : As we prepare to celebrate this Eucharist, let us call to mind our sins and
failures in loving God and others, and ask God to fill us with His love and
goodness.

All : I confess to Almighty God, and to you my brothers and sisters, that I have
greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and what
I have failed to do, through my fault; through my fault; through my most
grievous fault.
Therefore, I ask the Blessed Mary ever Virgin, all the angels and saints, and
you my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Presider : Have mercy on us, Lord, for not responding to Your love. Pardon our sins and
bring us to eternal life.

All : Amen.

“Lord Have Mercy” [To be sung]

OPENING PRAYER:

Presider : Father, You have made the bond of marriage a Holy Mystery, a symbol of
Christ’s love for His Church. Hear our prayers for Kit and Ciara. With faith in
You and in each other, they pledge their love today. May your blessings and
great love for us strengthen their love for each other, and may their lives bear
witness to the reality of that love. This we ask through Christ our Lord.

All : Amen.

Commentator : Please be seated for the Liturgy of the Word.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

1st Reading: A reading from the book of Genesis (2:18-24)

18 The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper
suitable for him.”
19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the

birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and
whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave
names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.
But for Adam[a] no suitable helper was found. 21 So the LORD God caused the man to
fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs[b] and
then closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the
rib[c] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be
called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”
24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they
become one flesh.
The word of the Lord.
All : Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm – PSALM 92
Antiphon
Lord, it is good to give You thanks.
Lord, it is good to give You thanks.
1. It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to make music to your name,
To proclaim your love in the morning, and your truth throughout the night. (Ant.)
2. The just shall flourish like a palm tree. And grow like a Lebanon cedar planted in
the house of the Lord. They will flourish in God’s courts. (Ant.)
3. They shall bear fruit when they are old. Still full of sap, still green. To proclaim that
the Lord’s love is steadfast. In God, my rock is no wrong. (Ant.)
Finale It is good to give you thanks.

Wedding Liturgy – Kit Ezra and Ciara Dwyn 5

2nd Reading: A reading from the first letter of Paul to the Corinthians (12:31-13:8)

Be ambitious for the higher gifts. And I am going to show you a way that is better than
any of them. If I have all the eloquence of men or of angels, but speak without love, I am
simply a gong booming or a cymbal clashing. If I have the gift of prophesy, understanding
all the mysteries there are, and knowing everything, and if I have faith in all its fullness, to
move mountains, but without love, then I am nothing at all. If I give away all that I
possess, piece by piece, and if I even let them take my body to burn it, but I am without
love, it will do me no good whatever. Love is always patient and kind; it is never
jealous; love is never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does not take
offence, and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people's sins but delights
in the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever
comes. Love does not come to an end.
The word of the Lord.
All : Thanks be to God.

Commentator: Let us all stand to honor the gospel.

Gospel Acclamation: Sung
GOSPEL READING:
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John (15:9-12)
As the Father has loved me, so I loved you. Live on in my love. You will live in my love
if you keep my commandments, even as I have kept my Father’s commandment, and
live in his love. All this I tell you that my joy may be yours and your joy may be
complete. This is my commandment: Love one another as I have loved you.

This is the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ.

PRESENTATION OF THE MARRIAGE SYMBOLS [Couple will kneel]
Commentator : (to be read slowly and meditatively)
Lighting of the Wedding Candles
The candles symbolize the light of Jesus Christ, the same light that we all should have
within us. The lighting of the candles is a reminder that Kit and Ciara should forever
have the light of Christ in their lives and should keep that holy fire burning in their
hearts.

Imposition of the Wedding Veil

The veil denotes a deep level of agreement – a sacred oneness. It symbolizes the union
of two matured individuals who vow to love and respect each other for eternity.

Imposition of the Wedding Cord

Cord represents strength. As it is being placed over the veil, it strengthens the
couple’s union and it also signifies the kind of spirituality they should have as husband
and wife, and as future parents to their children.

[Song- while the sponsors light the candle, lay the veil, and impose the cord to the couple]

Offering : Candles, flower, in kinds and bread and wine

COMMUNION RITES

12 Wedding Liturgy – Kit Ezra and Ciara Dwyn

Presider : Let us pray with confidence to the Father in the words our Savior gave us.
THE LORD’S PRAYER:
NUPTIAL BLESSING:
Presider : Let us pray to the Lord for Kit and Ciara, who come to the altar as they
begin their married life, that they may always be bound together by love for
one another.
Holy Father, who formed man in your own image, male and female you
created them, so that as husband and wife, united in body and heart, they
might fulfill their calling in the world;
O God, who, to reveal the great design you formed in your love, willed that
the love of spouses for each other should foreshadow the covenant you
graciously made with your people, so that, by fulfillment of the sacramental
sign, the mystical marriage of Christ with his Church might become manifest
in the union of husband and wife among your faithful;
Graciously stretch out your right hand over these your servants Kit and
Ciara we pray, and pour into their hearts the power of the Holy Spirit.
Grant, O Lord, that, as they enter upon this sacramental union, they may
share with one another the gifts of your love and, by being for each a sign of
your presence, become one heart and one mind.
May they also sustain, O Lord, by their deeds the home they are forming and
prepare their children to become members of your heavenly household by
raising them in the way of the Gospel.
Graciously crown with your blessings your daughter Ciara so that, by being a
good wife (and mother), she may bring warmth to her home with a love that
is pure and adorn it with welcoming graciousness. Bestow a heavenly blessing
also, O Lord, on Kit, your servant, that he may be worthy, good and faithful
husband and a provident father.
Grant, holy Father, that, desiring to approach your table as a couple joined in
marriage in your presence, they may one day have the joy of taking part in
your great banquet in heaven. Through Christ our Lord.

All : Amen.

Wedding Liturgy – Kit Ezra and Ciara Dwyn 13

Communion Songs:
PAGKAKAIBIGAN
Ang sino man sa Aki'y mananahan Mula ngayon kayo'y Aking kaibigan
Mananahan din Ako sa kanya. Hinango sa dilim at kababaan.
At kung siya'y mamunga nang masagana, Ang kaibiga'y mag-aalay ng sarili niyang buhay;

Sa pag-ibig Ko, kayo sana ay manahan, Ang kaibiga'y mag-aalay ng sarili niyang buhay;
At bilin Ko sa inyo ay magmahalan. Walang hihigit sa yaring pag-aalay.
