seeks justice
in Ryan case
Pincham team builds case against CPD

While sitting in his living
room one hot August night lis-
tening to the nightly news,
retired Appellate Court Judge
R. Eugene Pmcham saw unfold
before him a scenario he
thought he would never see in
his lifetime.
Two boys, ages 7 and 8 were
being charged with a heinous
sex crime which ended in the
brutal slaying of a little girl
named Ryan Harris.
"When I first heard Ryan
Harris was missing I said they
would frame some poor home-
less person for it," Pincham
said, adding that he was
shocked when two young hoys
were charged with the crime.
Criminal attorney Andre
Grant called Pincham several
times about the case and
asked for his assistance, but
Pincham said he was certain
police officers would not go as
far as to "lie" on two small
children.
"But when Andre called me
and (filled me in on what was
happening) I prayed about it

Jakes leads march against brutality

On Malcolm X's birthday
Wednesday, nearly 500 people
and more than 30 organizations
joined the Rev. Paul Jakes and
the Christian Council on Urban
Affairs for a Loop march
against police brutality and a
call for a federal investigation
into what many see as
ingrained prosecutorial and
police misconduct.
Citizens of Asian, Hispanic,
Jewish, African and European
descent, gathered with plac-
ards, signs and clinched fists,
chanting "stop police brutality,"

hide, we charge you with geno-
cide."

cleared with the murder of 11-
year-old Ryan Harris.
"We have the mother here
today and she calls for you to
apologize in person. We feel
Chicago owes them a debt of
respect, because they were
accused of a murder that they
had nothing to do with. We call
on federal intervention and we
call on you to bring Janet Reno
to our city to join the people
because you are derelict in your
duties and responsibilities. So
