At present, the importance of electronic games is inclining among children, and its dominance on
children’s development could be observed clearly. Whether this kind of change is positive or negative, is
confusing judgment. However, in my opinion, increasing priority towards such games is both
favourable as well as disapproving for many reasons.

Could there be any reasons for the prevalence of electronic games? This is an unusual question, but
there are some hidden causes. Firstly, people’s hectic schedule has made such a situation that they
don’t have enough time to spend quality time with their children, consequently, it leads to boredom.
More importantly, the game industry has reached to the young generation with the help of
advertisement technology which lures children by displaying attractive features and animation on TV,
radio or wherever possible.

On the one hand, there are many advantages to why electronic games are given preferences by
children. One of the major reasons why these kinds of games are gaining popularity is their wide range.
Some of these are based on mathematical calculations, reasoning and solving puzzles along with joy. As
a result, cognitive skill is improved which offers edification of children leading to better academic
performance somewhat. Another reason which makes such games part of a child’s playthings is a
convenience factor. When a large playground is not available or weather is not suitable to engage in
outdoor activity or sport, then undoubtedly, these games become accessible to provide entertainment.
Finally, factor designed for all ages is also a considerable factor as children and parents can play some
games together, and it makes them feel to have a sense of belonging and entertainment.

On the other hand, electronic games also bring some negative impacts which are worthwhile to
consider. First and foremost, the health issue is the main negative effect. Children have to sit in front of
computers or electronic gadgets for long hours which lead to strain on eyes, obesity, and lack of fitness
features since because of staying away from outdoor activities. Furthermore, socializing with friends,
relatives, and neighbours is declining. This is because children are at home almost all the time, so they
hardly get time to meet and converse with people. What is more, sometimes the academic
performance of children goes down if there is no proper control over the usage of these games. For
example, according to a survey conducted in India last year, the number of passing children at
secondary lever decreased by one tenth after game ‘PUBG’ was released.

To conclude, even though children have opportunities to improve their intelligence level and provide
instant entertainment in any condition, its detrimental ramifications such as health problems, a
distraction from study and a barrier to socializing. Clearly, there is a puzzle for which side to support,
but I believe this trend is more beneficial as bringing awareness and proper guidance about electronic
games can be promising for their future.
