Hadsell (a Caucasian maie with date of birth 05/21/1978 and social 1 72 P. No, 0571 2:57°M Jul. 20, 2018 ‘On 03/20/2015, the above referenced vehicle was seized and towed to the Norfolk Security number @@@EEBUNN, the step father of Anjelica Hadsell. He advised that he last saw Anjelica Madsell on the morning of 03/02/2015 when he came over in the morning to her residence at 8421 Millard Street in the City of Norfolk, Virginia, before Anjelica’s sister went to school. Further alo: i icated that he did not see them that morning, but he put the keys fo Anj jew that he was not living at home; rather he was staying at a hotel because his wife was upset thet he had started using cocaine again. 0n 03/04/2015, Norfolk Police Detective Lefleur interviewed Wesley Paul Hadsell for a second time. It was learned that Wesley Hadsell changed his story, again and indicated that he last saw Anjelica Hadsell at approximately 1230 hours where he gave her $200.00 at the gas station located on Tidewater Dri indenwood Ave. The above referenced gas station was later determined to be the One Stop Food ‘Mart located at 2628 Tidewater Drive in the City of Norfolk. On 03/10/2015, Corporal Rodney Young, in an attempt to further investigate Mr. Hadsell’s version of events, obtained and viewed surveillance video footage from the One Stop Food Mart. The footage did not show the meeting Wesley Hadsell described, nor did it show any vehicles known to be operated by Wesley and/or Anjelica Hadselt. On 03/20/2015, Wesley Hadsell came fo the Police Operation Center where he was questioned about some. inconsistencies in his statements. He could not explain why video surveillance did not show him at the ges station where and wien he stated that he last met with Anjelica Hadselt, He also changed his story about his whereabouts during approximate time of her disappearance. When he was questioned about possible phone location data, he stated that the data appeared to show that Anjelica Hadsell’s phone was with him duritg her time of disappearance but could not provide an explanation for the proximity of Anjelica Hadsell’s cellular telephone to his hotel. ense plates This affiant was told by Wesley Hadsell that he drove and maintained possession of a White Chevy Astro Van with Vit Mr, Hadsell’s WPS-2545, Mr. Hadsell explained that the above referenced vehicle was owned by Quality Plumbing and Mechani employer, but that he (Mr. Hadsell) would maintain possession of the vehicle and that he was the only driver of the ve! Dur ‘Nuvi 200, serial number 1GC315981 unit was recovered. ‘This affiant telephoned Steven Bonham, the operations manager for Quality Plumbing and Mechanica, Inc., and verified that the above referenced Garmin Global Positioning System, was not owned or maintained by the company. ‘A search watrant was written for the GPS unit and when the data was analyzed, it revealed that on 03/64/2015 the GPS unit referenced above was behind an abandoned residence lovaced at 34160 Smiths Ferry Road in the City of Franklin, Virginia for approximately twenty (20) minates. (On. 04/09/2015, this affiant and other members of the Norfolk Police Department went to the above referenced location and discovered the remains of a Caucasian female who had been dumped in a ditch and partially buried. There were what eppeared to be shovel marks in the dirt 23 P, No. 0571 2018 2:57PM Jul. 20, around the body. On.04/10/2015, Doctor W. Gunther performed an autopsy on the female remains. The Medical Examiner's Office positively identified the remains as belonging to Anjelica Hadsell and determined that Ms. Hadsell had died ftom homicidal violence, On 06/18/2018 Wesley Hadsell was transferred to the Western Tidewater Region: WTRJ). This affiant obtained housing documents from the WIRJ which showed that Wesley Hadsell was assigned to the following locations within the WTRIJ since his arrival on 06/18/2018: E-1, 206B; E-1, 107B; and E-1, 1048. On 07/11/2018 this affiant received two (2) handwitten letters from an inmate at the WTRJ by the name of Richard Patterson (W/M; DOB: 10/28/1970; EEE. In the letters Mr. Patterson claimed that he was housed with Wesley Hadsell at the WTRJ and that Mr. Hadlsell shared specific details about the death of Anjelica Hadsell with him. In addition, Mr. Patterson claimed that he had both a professional and personal relationship with Mr. Hiadsell prior to their incarcerations; that Mr. Hadsell and Anjelica Hadsell came over to his (Patterson) January ot February of 2015; and that he (Patterson) had direct knowledge of Anjelica’s death, but that he wanted immunity before he would speak with investigators. Mr. Patterson is being held at the WTRJ on federal firearms charges. He was arrested by the ATF on July 21, 2017. Incident to his arrest, Mr, | Patterson's laptop computer (Toshiba laptop with serial number 6A218896K) was seized by the ATF. ‘This affiant obtained housing documents from the WTRJ for Richard Patterson, which showed that Mr. Patterson had been housed in E-1, 1037. 18. The WTRJ confirmed for this affiant that Mr. Hadsell and Mr, Patterson would have been able to have contact with each other for the entire time that Mr. Hadsell was at the WTRJ starting upon his amival on June 18, 2018. Prior to interviewing Mr. Patterson, it will be necessary o determine the veracity of M. Patiesson's claim that he had a personal and as Mr. Patterson implies, he had a role in Anjelica br after the offense, evidence of Mr. Patterson's role may ’s abduction and murder, whether that be assisting Mr. ed within his personal laptop. thas been my experience that individuals often communicate about offenses with their victims, associates, and/or co-conspirators via e-mail and through other computer-based programs. In addition, cellular telephone data are often backed up to computers. Based on the aforementioned facts, I believe there is evidence of abduction contained within Mr. Patterson’s Toshiba laptop with serial number GA218896K. Therefore, I respectfully request the issuing of a search warrant for the above referenced laptop computer. 5.
