 Eight Mansions Feng Shui
The Eight Mansions, also known as Ba Zhai, is one of the two most trusted Feng Shui
methods for property assessment. The system itself classifies all properties into eight
categories, based on the ‘’sitting trigram’’. Given that there are eight trigrams, there are
also eight houses, namely East, West, North, South, Northeast, Northwest, Southwest
and Southeast.

In order to learn which one of the eight houses is yours, you must first establish the
exact facing or sitting degree of the property. By following the instructions provided in
Althea’s Feng Shui book, you can easily identify the facing and the sitting of the
property. Using a simple 360 degrees Western compass, you can read the facing
degree, which will help you to identify your house in the Eight Houses system. Also,
download a free copy of ‘’24 Directions of Feng Shui’’, to find the degree span of the
each of eight directions.

For example, Dui house refers to a property that sits on West but faces East, i.e.
anything between 67.6 and 112,5 degrees.

 Good locations at your home

Once you know your type of property within Eight Mansions, it becomes easy to unlock the
good and bad locations.

The key to make the most of Eight Mansions is the following:

1.      Spend time (sleep, sit, study, work) in good locations (+90, +80, +70, +60).
2.      Bad locations (-90, -80, -70, -60) are ideal for kitchen, bathroom, utility and storage.

-90 = the worst location
