To decide what the most important factors in teaching adults are, one must have an understanding of
adults and learners and the goals of education. The work of two prominent adult educators, Malcolm
Knowles and Paulo Freire, will be explored to develop this understanding. From this research three
factors emerge that are fundamental to teaching adults effectively: understanding their motivation,
creating an environment that is conducive to their learning, and encouraging critical reflection.

A topic sentence that presents the main idea of the paragraph often taking the form of a generalised
claim. It is usually the first sentence of the paragraph. • Supporting sentences that explain and
elaborate on the main idea. This can involve drawing on examples relevant to the field, quotations
from published authorities on the topic, statistical data, comparing and contrasting sources. It is
important to use other sources (quotations, paraphrases and summaries) as support information as it
can give credibility to a claim. • A concluding sentence that signals the end of the paragraph by
giving a final comment on the topic that answers the question 'so what?' A concludin

• a final statement that communicates a strong message the reader will remember. The final

Education is not only a need of developing nations but of the developed ones also. Realization of its
importance, there are several trends emerging in education. Educational Marketing is one of the new
emerging trends. Keeping in view the global importance of Educational marketing This essay examines
offline marketing method in education sector nowadays. Marketing spending has grown dramatically
over the last decade but the traditional marketing strategies such as advertising in TV, on billboards
and posters might not be as effective as they used to be. This type of mass communication still
counts for more than 50% of the total advertising investments, but are considered less and less
trustworthy and more and more offending and a survey done by Svenska Posten shows that 70% of
all people is zapping when commercials go on (Karlöf & Karlöf, 2007). Bryntesson, Hammarlind
and Sammeli (2002) sees upon it differently. They say that today’s audience not necessarily is more
critical towards marketing. Instead they say the audience today is more used to marketing and
therefore have higher demands on it (fulltext01)

The authors definition of traditional marketing is; Printed advertising which includes daily press and
magazines (magazines referring to both entertainment and special interests in different areas);
Outdoor advertising; Radio and TV advertising;
Dahlén and Edenius (2007) sees upon traditional advertising as media such as TV, radio, print and
the internet and state that by repeated exposures to advertising in traditional advertising media,
consumers learn to identify it automatically. Karlöf and Karlöf (2007) state, that the traditional
marketing strategies include advertising in TV, advertising on billboards and posters. Marketing in
traditional sense is expensive and most newly started business often lack resources to market
themselves using those types of marketing strategies. However, the world is constantly changing and
the field of marketing also needs to adapt with the changing conditions in the environment (Kotler,
2005). Blackwell (2006) argue that the term traditional marketing is used due to that new modes of
marketing like e-marketing and online marketing have evolved.
Recent measurements and marketing surveys show that traditional marketing has lost its former
glory in today’s over-communicated society. The Nobel Prize winner Herbert Simons stated that,”A
wealth of information creates a poverty of attention” (Karlöf & Karlöf, 2007, p.3). In a world of
information overload marketing now has shifted to focus more on actually reaching out to people.
Organizations on the market today are facing tough competition with globalization. The global
market on the other hand is offering many business opportunities, but still many companies are
constantly cutting costs to survive (Karlöf & Karlöf, 2007).
Universities in the UK increased their expenditure on marketing by nearly 23 per cent in the run-up
to the introduction of higher fee caps. Total expenditure across 70 institutions rose from £26.1
million in the 2010–2011 academic or financial year to £31.9 million in 2011–2012 (Matthews,
2013). Despite this, applications across the sector fell 7.4 per cent.
