 Celebrating 550th Prakash Purab of
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji

The 550th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak

Dev Ji is being celebrated with great devotion
and fervour. The year long celebrations will see
its culmination at Sultanpur Lodhi. Various
developmental works have been initiated by the
State Government across the State to mark this
occasion. Special projects are being undertaken
in 70 villages and towns visited by Sri Guru
Nanak Dev Ji during his lifetime. One of the most
signicant projects is the development of
Kartarpur Corridor from Dera Baba Nanak in
District Gurdaspur to Gurudwara Darbar Sahib,
Kartarpur Sahib (Pakistan).

 Sultanpur Lodhi
The town is situated on the banks of the
River Holy Bein, around 28 kms from
Kapurthala. This town is known for many
historical Gurudwaras, related to the life & times
of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the rst Sikh Guru. Sri
Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent nearly 14 years of his
life here before setting out on his famous travels
(Udasis) to deliver his message around the
world. His sister, Bebe Nanaki, lived in this town
with her husband, Bhai Jai Ram, an ofcial in the
service of Nawab Daulat Khan Lodhi, a
feudatory Chief, who became the Governor of
the Province of Lahore during the rst quarter of
t h e 1 6 t h C e n t u r y. T h e t o w n a s s u m e s
importance as Guru Nanak Dev Ji attained
enlightenment here. Sultanpur Lodhi is held in
great esteem by the devotees.

Gurudwara Sri Ber Sahib

This Gurudwara marks the site where Guru

Nanak Dev Ji left His clothes in the supervision
of an attendant and disappeared in the Holy
Bein. A beri still stands on the site.

 Gurudwara Sri Sant Ghat Sahib

After 3 days of disappearance in the Holy

Bein, Guru Nanak Dev Ji emerged 3 miles
upstream from the present location of Gurudwara
Ber Sahib. Gurudwara Sant Ghat is situated at the
place where he emerged from the Holy Bein.
Gurudwara Sri Antaryamta Sahib

The Gurudwara marks the site where Guru

Nanak Dev Ji made realise the true meaning of
Namaz to Nawab Daulat Khan and his maulvi.

 Gurudwara Sri Kothri Sahib

Guru Nanak Dev Ji was called by Jadu Rai to

render the accounts. The site where the accounts
were rendered has been marked as “Gurudwara
Sri Kothri Sahib.”
Gurudwara Sri Sehra Sahib

At this sacred place, Guru Arjan Dev Ji stayed

for a night while going to village Dala during the
marriage ceremony of His son Guru Hargobind
Sahib Ji.

 Gurudwara Sri Guru Ka Bagh Sahib

The Gurudwara marks the site where Guru

Nanak Dev Ji and Bibi Sulakhni Ji lived following
their marriage. Their two sons Baba Sri Chand and
Baba Lakhmi Das were born here.
Gurudwara Sri Bebe Nanki Ji Sahib

Gurudwara Sri Bebe Nanaki Sahib,

constructed in 1970's, honours the memory of
Bebe Nanaki Ji, elder sister of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Gurudwara Sri Hatt Sahib commemorates the

time when Guru Nanak Ji worked in the Modi
Khana (store) of which He was the in-charge.

Qila Sarai

This Sarai was built at a magnicent cost of

Rs. 1 Lakh and as a part of many Sarais which are
located on the Mughal Highway fromAgra to Lahore.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji attained enlightenment

after taking bath in this Holy Bein.

Hadira Mausoleum

It is a ne monument of strength, weight and

balance built on an octagonal plan with four gates
in cardinal directions situated on the banks of Holy
Bein, Sultanpur Lodhi.

i) National Institute of Inter-faith Studies -
Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar at a cost of
Rs. 482.12 crore.
ii) “Pind Babe Nanak Da” Museum at Sultanpur
Lodhi.
iii) Bebe Nanki University College for Girls in Fattu
Dhinga village near Sultanpur Lodhi.
iv) Widening and strengthening of 4 plan roads,
special repair of 11 plan roads, Construction of 3
High level Bridges, widening of Link Roads,
culverts and Bridges, Construction of two Foot
Over Bridges, three Pontoon Bridges and
Upgradation of Mandis at a cost of Rs. 153 Crore.
v) Lining, fencing and cleaning of Holy Bein at a
cost of Rs. 11 Crore.
vi) Development of 70 places/ villages visited by Sri
Guru Nanak Dev Ji at a cost of Rs. 1 Crore per
village.
vii) Plantation of 550 trees in each of 12986 villages
of the State of Punjab.
