CENS WEEK 2019: QUIZ BEE

A. Participants:
1. The contest is open to any bona fide students of the College of Education and Natural
Sciences.
2. The quiz bee is individual in nature.
3. There will be 5 representatives for each group (BSEd ALS and BSEd Math, BSEd English,
BSEd Filipino, BSEd Sciences, BTLE, BSEM, BSMB).

B. Scope and Coverage:

1. The quiz bee shall cover general questions: English and Literature, Math, Science, Current
Events, Entertainment and Fashion
2. There shall be three (3) rounds: Easy Round, Average Round, and Difficult Round.
3. There shall be twenty (20) questions in Round 1, fifteen (15) in Round 2, and ten (10) in
Round 3. Three (3) clincher questions shall be given in cases of ties. The mechanics for the
Clincher Round will be the same as that of Round 1.
4. Round 1 and Round 2 is composed of Multiple Choice Questions, while Round 3 is
Identification.
5. Each question weighs one (1) point in Round 1, two (2) points in Round 2, and three (3)
points in round 3. The points are computed cumulatively.

C. Quiz Bee Proper:

1. Cellular or mobile phones are not allowed during the competition.
2. A Quiz Master, a Timer, and a Scorer shall be assigned to facilitate the competition.
3. The Quiz Master shall read the question twice while the question itself will be flashed on a
screen for the contestants to see. After the second (2nd) reading, the Quizmaster shall say
“go”, only then the contestants be allowed to choose or write their answers. Timer will then
start.
- Round 1: 10 second time-limit
- Round 2: 10 second time-limit
(*except for solving type of questions, which are given 20 seconds to answer)
- Round 3: 20 second time-limit
4. After the time-limit, the bell is rung by the time-keeper. The contestants must stop writing
and must raise their answer boards.
5. All answers must be written on the slate boards provided for each contestant. It shall be
raised once the bell is rung. Failure to do so will signal a warning for the first offense and
disqualification for the second.
6. The Quizmaster shall read and verify each contestant’s answer.
7. Any question or query to the correctness of the answers should be raised before the start
of the next question.
8. In Round 1, only the top twenty (20) contestants will qualify to the next round (Average
Round). In Round 2, only the top 10 (ten) contestants will qualify to the next round (Difficult
Round).
9. The contestants that garnered the highest marks shall be declared as the CENS Quiz Bee
Winner.
