Rationale

Barangay Dajay is one of the admirable Barangay in Surallah, but behind of

this there was an illness to different people that we never want them to have.

There are 3 (Three) students from Lamsugod National High School were sent

at Barangay Dajay, Surallah, South Cotabato, from the Municipal Health Office. To the

Rural Health Unit, Health Center of Barangay Dajay to generate a Case Study on this

barangay.

The Barangay Dajay Health Officials was good and thoughtful, they really want

to help the other people who have sick in their community freely, and the exchange of

this was the priceless smile of the patients’ that has been helped by their health

problems.

But there are people that he/she really cares for his/her health but they still get

a sick/illness or disease. Since the common livelihood support in this community is

farming you must go beneath the sunset so that you can get your daily food.

Just like the Father of Lozada’s Family he is a farmer and he experienced the

disease of we called TB or Tuberculosis, he is treated in Health Center of Dajay for six

months and he is now cured.

Tuberculosis still represents an important global public health threat and it is

one of the world leading causes of death. And this is a cumulative human suffering and

economic losses.

Cumulative- (Adjective) increasing or increased in quantity, degree, or force by

successive additions.

 FAMILY PROFILE

The student was brought in the house of Mr. Danilo Lozada with the persons’

from RHU (Rural Health Unit) of Barangay Dajay and they are warmly welcomed by the

Lozada Family.

In the Barangay Dajay were the students told to make a Case study, they

conducted an interview in the house of Mr. Danilo Lozada. The family is composed of

six (6) family members, they have 4 childrens. Named: Gilbert Umadhay Lozada the

elder, Christine Marie Umadhay Lozada, Princess Umadhay Lozada, and their youngest

brother is Kimpee Umadhay Lozada.

And the family main foundation was Mr. Danilo Lozada and Mrs. Annie

Umadhay Lozada. The two was very active at their farm, and sad to say that Mrs. Annie

Paciente Umadhay Lozada was passed away last July 23, 2016, because of breast

cancer. She is 46 years old at the time when she died, she finish Vocational Course

(Dress Making). She suffers breast cancer for more than one (1) year. They have

undergone check-up to the doctor, and the doctor says that they must undergo Biopsy

for further medication and to ease the pain. But they do not abide the doctor words

says to them and they rely only on herbalist or quack doctor.

And Mr. Danilo Lozada is a 58 years old, born in the municipality of Sto. Nińo,

an Elementary Graduate, and his birthday are November 27, 1960. His occupation is

farming of rice; his monthly income is not less than 9,000 a month or maybe more than

of it. He is a 4P’s member and also Phil Health Member. He is a simple person but

behind of it, he already faced the well known disease worldwide the TB or Tuberculosis.

The symptoms he experienced were; loss of appetite, weight loss, and he felt so much

hot to his body especially when he is on his farm and going back to their home. The

cause of this is that, he is smoking before and especially on different kind of work on

their farm. But he undergone TB Treatment in Health Center of Barangay Dajay by the

help of the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Barangay Dajay Mr. Danilo Lozada is now cured

after six (6) months of treatment.

Even if they have been faced many hindrances his and her children make their

family proud. Because of their achievements like their older brother Mr. Gilbert

Umadhay Lozada 22 years of age born on May 18, 1997, he is now a fourth (4th) year

college at the Ramon Magsaysay Memorial College and his course is Bachelor of

Elementary Education or (BEED).

And also her second child Ms. Christine Marie Umadhay Lozada, graduated of

Bachelor of Elementary Education or (BEED) she is now 21 years old, born on October

5, 1998, and graduated at South East Asian Institute of Technology or (SEAIT).

And the third child of the family was not able to finish his study because of his

condition and also of the bullying of his and her classmates according to her father Mr.

Danilo Umadhay Lozada and her older sister Ms. Princess Umadhay Lozada, his mind is

not like the other child, that in a little way of teaching it can learned immediately. The

problem of this teen they know this since the child was born, his mind is not fully mold

yet. And earlier this year his family found out that this child have epilepsy this happens

once a month or more often if the child was over fatigue or when he is starved and not

taking enough meal.

 His name is Kimpee Umadhay Lozada, he is 17 years old, born on May 28,

2002, and the last school he attended and he was graduated is in the Sri Visaya

Elementary School.

And the fourth and the last child of the family was Princess Umadhay Lozada,

she was 13 years old, born on July 22, 2001, a grade eight (8) student of Surallah

National High School.

 Observation

``Every person has the right to go to a doctor if he/she has an illness and not

on the quack doctor who are not qualified to treat a person ill’’.

The family Lozada, our given household to conduct a case study, it has been

observed by the immersionist that the family were not able to see a doctor immediately

due to financial problem and the only source of their income is farming. Mr. Danilo

Lozada, a father of the family which has a TB positive, but is now cured because of the

treatment through the help of Rural Health Unit Treatment Center. His Spouse named

Annie Umadhay Loazada. She died because of the Breast Cancer. She is suffering a

Breast Cancer for almost a year, the doctor advised to treat her through biopsy but the

family sends her to a quack doctor because of lack of financial, that’s why her illness

became severe. This is why she died because they didn’t see the appropriate doctor

that can treat her illness.

 Recommendations

The immersionist students’ recommend to conduct further study about the

background of the said household. The students found out that the father of the family

who is Mr. Danilo Lozada has already experienced a disease called Tuberculosis or TB,

but he is now cures after six months of treatment in Rural Health Unit Center. The teen

age son Mr. Danilo Lozada who is Kimpee, 17 years old and has difficulty in thinking

“Special Child”. The students recommended to Mr. Danilo to stop using cigarette, avoid

drinking alcohol, don’t make himself too tired, he needs a sufficient rest and eat

nutritious foods and the most important is he should go to the hospital to have his

monthly check up to make sure that health is already well and in order for him to avoid

TB. Then, about the mental condition of Kimpee, the students recommend and remind

the father of Kimpee Mr. Danilo Lozada to go in a neurologist as soon as possible to

check his condition and health and also to know more about his condition.
