ABSTRACT
Structural engineering is concerned with the structural design and structural analysis of
buildings, bridges, flyovers (overpass), tunnels, off shore structures like oil and gas fields in
the sea, aero structure and other structures. This involves identifying the loads which act upon
a structure and the forces and stresses which arise within that structure due to those loads, and
then designing the structure to successfully support and resist those loads.

A structure should not only be safe against all these loads but the construction and
maintenance costs of the structure should be considered in the design process. The
economical execution of any structure depends more on the overall layout of the structure
with respect to the construction feasibility and cost (called constructability) than on its
theoretical analysis result.
