Subject: Letter for Nomination of Participants for 2019 KoRAA Long-term Training Courses

Dear Honorable KoRAA Presidents:

Warm greetings from the International Technology Cooperation Center (ITCC), RDA, Korea!
As we have sent you the pre-notice letters [ITCC 18-81] Gentle Notice Letter on the 2019 Training
Implementation Scheme for KoRAA members, and [ITCC 18-82] Notice letter for 2019 KoRAA Long-term
Training Course Scheme, we would like to ask you to nominate the most suitable candidates according to the
training courses you have finally chosen.

Gently, please note that ‘General Qualifications’ will be as follows:

- Trainees should be public servants who are members of RDA-KoRAA and should be recommended by the
chief (head) of organization.
- Trainees should possess advanced degree of M.S. (or Ph.D.); have at least 5 years research experiences
- Trainees should be fluent in English and computer application ability as well.
**Points will be added according to the degree of educational attainment (Ph.D. > On-going Ph.D. > M.S.) and
numbers of theses authored.
*You can check the most important ‘Specific Qualifications’, which is set differently according the training
course. (Attachment 1)

Please note that there are total of 12 training courses which will be opened in April 2019 and shall be
completed in January 2020 that is for ten (10) months. However, 12 training courses are not yet confirmed for
opening as they are still under the suitability review. For each intensive training course, kindly refer to the
attached detailed ‘Training Course Proposal’. Those training courses are opened to all KoRAA members, but
we did emphasize these important things.

First of all, the most important key point in screening the candidates is their specific qualification which is
required differently according to each training course. It means that all candidates should meet the general
requirements and specific requirement as well. If candidates do not meet any of them, they could not be
selected considering the effectiveness and desired impact of the training.

Once again, please note that there could be possibility of imbalance; in which RDA institutes will look into
each document very carefully and screen the most suitable candidates so that only the most appropriate
KoRAA member countries can participate to these training courses. Anent this, some training courses will not
be opened if there are no suitable candidates. Moreover, there would be financial penalty if any of the finally
selected trainees drops out of the training course earlier.

For smooth application, please note that each KoRAA member should submit the 1) recommendation form
(free format with signature by the chief (head) of organization), 2) training application form and 3) a copy of
passport to the ITCC team (share@korea.kr) on or before 18 January (Friday) 2019. Moreover, please note
that applications submitted later than the deadline date (18 Jan. 2019) will not be accepted. Likewise, there
interview might be done upon needed by RDA institutes. Final selection of trainees will be announced on 1
February (Friday), 2019.

We are hoping for your prudent nomination for these 2019 KoRAA Long-term training courses.
