Rote learning & formal teaching, esp Focus on play and discovery based
in preschools learning

• All subjects, including arts, music, crafts, sports, yoga,
community service, etc. will be curricular.

through academic & administrative autonomy

knowledge New policy has more room for
exploration of language and literature
Some disappointing elements
• Midday meals (MDM) targets large scale fortification than
focusing on the need-based supplementation
• Discriminant about inclusion of first generation learners,
children with SLD or CwD but have ability to learn specific
subjects (or) children with severe disabilities with
intellectual abilities
• Fails to accommodate inclusive set up or appropriate
modification for CwD / CwSEN when designing the
integrated curriculum on PE, Yoga, Art, Music & Dance
• No mention about certification of Children having Home
Based Education or Under NTA(1999)
Why they are important?
• People of different socio-economic setups, people
with physical, learning or intellectual
disabilities, and transgenders are part of our
society. Inclusion is way of life.
• It’s not about numbers children score or they
are going to make as they grow
• It’s about skill acquisition, enhancement and
application and finally employability
• Children rarely learning anything in home
based education
What it doesn’t speak about
• Commercial schools
• Single curriculum standards for under
privileged and more privileged ones
• Choice of Mother Tongue as third language than
that of a regional language
• Examinations as a tool to assess their strengths
and weaknesses than judging their capacities
• Cultural awareness & sensitivity (Diverse
nature of Indian Culture)

into various fields

encourage them to do better in their field at an early career

Position of Private Schools
