INTRODUCTION ABOUT THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY

1.1 INTRODUCTION:

The export market is as a vital trade centre in India, which is


famous for the knitted garments, knitted yarns and woven. The export
market is the major source of foreign exchange for the country. The
export market began in the late 1980s. Now china has a step into the
export market with a new innovation to beat the Indian export
market. China started manufacturing knitted garments in low cost and
exported their garments to various countries like United Kingdom,
France, Germany, Spain etc.

1.2 THE GARMENT INDUSTRY:

The garment industry in India is one of the world. India is


one of the world. It is an extremely organized sector compressing
garment manufactures, exporters, suppliers, stockists, and wholesalers
garment exports etc. both in the small scale and large scale. There are
many hundreds of different knitting stitches used by hand knitters. A
piece of hand knitting begins with the process of casting on, which
involves the initial creation of the stitches on the needle. Knitting
History - Origins of Knitting.Knitting is a technique of making fabric
with yarn on two or more needles. The word “knitting” comes from the
word “knot”. Knitting is made of wool, silk, and other fibers.
1.3 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY:

 To provide students the opportunity to test their interest in a


particular career before permanent commitments are made.

 To expose students to real work environment experience, gain


knowledge in writing report in technical works/project.

1.4 SCOPE OF THE STUDY:


The scope of study section of your research project work contains the
areas to be covered by your work. It delineates the level of the object of
study that would be covered by the particular research work so that both
the reader and writer have a perspective of what is aimed at and what is
to be expected.

2.2 OBJECTIVES OF THE COMPANY:
The ambition of the managing partners of the
organisation is to establish a state of art of manufacturing facility which
commenced in a small way has never less progressively groom in terms
of infrastructure, productivity and quality.

We also aim to archive on time delivery with stipulated quality and


customer satisfaction through continued improvement.

The main business of the company is to manufacture and exports


of high class quality cotton garments to the European market.

We strive towards total customer satisfaction through continues


improvement in productivity, quality and service achieved by means of
team work.Monthly production capacity is 50,000 pieces in basic t-
shirts. To attain organization goal we have appointed 70 staff members
in various fields related to garments. Our employee strength is 110 all
are trained about how to attain quality in productivity. Our finished
goods are exported to Europe and Germany. Product quality guaranteed

Function of the Different Departments in company:
Functions of the all sections of company are described briefly:

Merchandising:
It is a vital process that involves planning, developing, executing and
dispatching the order (product) to the buyer. The merchandising process
comprises guiding and supervising for the successful processing of an
order. The types of merchandising done in a garment unit are marketing
merchandising and product merchandising.

The main objective of marketing merchandising is development of


product, costing and ordering, and it has direct contact with the buyer.
Product merchandising is carried out in the respective apparel unit and
involves all the responsibilities starting from sourcing to finishing.

Sampling department:
The sampling department coordinates with the merchandising and
production department. It is carried out to foresee finished product
appearance and fit when produced in bulk and to confirm whether there
are any inconsistencies in the pattern according to the buyer’s
specification. It also aids to determine the fabric consumption along with
that of thread and other accessories used.

Purchasing department:
The main difference between the sourcing and purchasing department is
that the sourcing section works for sourcing the fabrics alone whereas
the nature of the work of the purchasing department comprises sourcing
of accessories and trims as well.

Fabric inspection department:


The main aims of fabric inspection team are

1. Identification and analysis of fabric defects using various standard


methods.
2. Selection of fabric according to AQL (accepted quality level)
Accessory stores department:
The receipt of the raw materials or the accessories is normally completed
in terms of documents that are received from the merchants.

Machine maintenance:
Undesirable quality of garments mostly results from ill-maintained
machines. Breakdown and preventive maintenance is mainly aimed
toward reducing the downtime and increasing lifetime, respectively.

Cutting section:
The cutting department normally receives the order from the production
manager who has approved the cutting order to cut a given quantity of
garment styles.
Production department:
Steps involved in production of a garment:

PROCESS OF PRODUCTION:

CUTTING:

The cloth roll was relaxed for few minutes for avoiding the

damages while cutting. The fabric will be cut as they make pattern for

the garment.

STITCHING:

1. Over lock machine

 Over lock machine are used to join the edges.

 This type of stitching is done for the inner part of garments.

 It was a straight line of stitching.

 The over lock stitching is made in sleeves and shoulders, sides etc.

2. Flat lock machine

Flat lock is stitched over the color , rib, neck ,bottom , etc.

3. Singer machine

1. These machines are used only for attaching labels.

2. After, the stitching the workers can check each of quantity because

there may be fabric error or cutting mistakes.


CHECKING:

In checking section labour’s for removing the threads and

removing of size stitches. At the time of checking if there is any stain on

the cloth oil is speed on the cloth. The checking is done in way. stain

removing is also a part of checking.

IRONING:

Ironing process is an important process. The production is work in

the ironing process was the each for quantity because there may be come

fabric error checking finishing next in ironing process. If the oil or stain

on the fabric was not removed the fabric cannot be ironed.

PACKING:

Packing is the economical production and identification of

merchandise for shipment and distribution packing transportation

packing is the final stage of production. It should more be finish;

packing is done according to buyer’s requisition.


Embroidery department:
It comes into play only when the particular garment style demands. It
receives the garment panel, style and the embroidery details from the
merchandisers and they will also get a sample of the garment on which
the embroidery has been already done and it will be used as a reference
sample.

Fabric washing section:


After the completion of assembling and inspection process, the garments
are sent to the washing department for the washing or finishing that is
required for the particular style according to the specification sheet.

Quality assurance department:


To maintain and control the quality, the quality assurance department
divides the work into different stages of manufacturing, which are
categorized into three major groups such as preproduction unit, cutting
audit and sewing unit.

Finishing department:
The finishing department is the last section in the garment production
prior to packing and dispatch and it plays a significant role in the final
garment appearance. It involves the following processes.

1. Trimming: It removes the extra threads from the garment at the stitched
areas.
2. Inspection: The inspection is done as per the AQL and mainly depends
on the buyer requirements.
3. Pressing: This is carried out after the garment has been inspected
completely and the garments are pressed or finished based on the
method of their folding during packing.
4. Tagging section: After the completion of fabric inspection and pressing,
they are sent for labeling , which includes the size labels, price tags and
miscellaneous labels if any are mentioned in the specification sheet.
5. Packing: The packing is done in the carton boxes. Individual packing of
garments in the poly bag and folding the garments and organizing them
in the carton boxes without placing them in the poly bag are the two
types of packing followed in the garment industry.

The institutional training is to knowledge about the different sector and also to know the

department, sales department, merchandising, quality control department, objectives, needs of
company etc., the training is very use full to our training.
