ABSTRACT
Background of the problem is that most students’ in junior high school were bored in
learning writing especially in write a paragraph. Because of that, the teachers should
have many ways to make students capable to express their ideas. In this case, the writer
will expose about teaching writing by using picture. It is hoped that by using picture can
activate the students’ creativity in writing activity. Picture is a kind of good media,
which can be used in teaching writing. The students will be more interested in learning
writing if the teacher teaches writing by using picture. By using pictures, students ‘can
express his thought, ideas and feeling. It can also provide information for his readers,
even to persuade them. so, Using the pictures is one of techniques for improving the
writing skills of the students learning English as a foreign language and pictures can be
useful for language teaching, which can help the teacher introduce the students to
unfamiliar cultural aspects to the students. And conclusion a picture is suitable media
that can be used in teaching writing because a picture is a good media and interesting
for the students. Pictures can help the students develop and improve their ability in
writing, make them easy to express their feeling in writing and help them think
creatively. The pictures guide them in learning writing.
