Applications: Stand alone SPV System

• Best suited for remote locations and places with very limited Grid Power.
• Battery back up may be required for usage during Night time and Cloudy days.
• Given the above, one of the best Application is Water Pumping for Irrigation.
• Solar Output is available only during day, which is time for irrigation.
• Maximum Output is achieved during midday, when water demand is maximum.
• Also Peak performance is achieved during Summer, when demand is maximum.
• Water can be used as a Energy Storage means instead of Battery.
• Sizing of Panel, Inverter, Battery, etc. is very crucial for optimum result.
Applications: On Grid SPV System

• Best suited for locations with secured Grid Power as cheaper green source of energy.
• Battery back up is not required as the Grid works as “shared Storage”
• However, if Grid is unreliable, then minimum Battery Storage can be considered.
• Given the above, it fits into almost all Urban & Rural Applications.
• In Farmland we can use for Poly house, Storage & Processing Units & Pisciculture.
• Also used for Domestic consumption.
• Sizing of Panel, Inverter, Battery, etc. is very crucial for optimum result.
Choosing SPV System/ Product
SPV Based Standard Products: On Grid SPV System:
• SPV Panels, Standalone 1-100 W • On Grid, daytime operation
• SPV Pump, AC/ DC 0.25 – 10 HP • On Grid, day & night operation
• SPV Light, 12-24 Hr Back up 10-100 W • On Grid with Battery, day & night operation
• SPV Fan, 12-24 Hr Back up 40-250 W • Check suitability of On Grid Operation
• SPV Chiller 12-24 Hr Back up 40-250 W • Check Net metering regulations
• Solar Power with 12-12 Hr Back up 0.1-1 kW • Identify Power/ Energy and Back up required
• Identify Rating & Backup, choose Product • Identify Space and Location of use
• Get the Optimum solution Engineered

Standalone SPV System: Power, Back up Requirement:

• SPV with DC Pump, daytime operation • Check Power requirements at months of the year
• SPV with AC Pump, daytime operation • Also check Hourly Power demand throughout the day
• SPV with Elevator, daytime operation • Calculate Back up Requirement on demand * duration
• SPV for Industry, daytime operation
• SPV with Battery, day & night operation Space & Location Constraints
• Identify Power/ Energy and Back up required • Check Space free to direct Sunshine (7 AM – 5 PM)
• Identify Space and Location of use • Future obstruction from Highrise in Urban space
• Get the Optimum solution Engineered • Identify the Lat-Long details from GPS
Factors in SPV Sizing: Direct Sunshine
Space open to Direct Sunshine:
• Both Mono & Poly SPVs are most effective under Direct Sunshine.
• TFA Panels have lower efficiency than both Mono & Poly Panels but are effective under shade as well.
• For Mono or Poly SPV (most likely in Urban space) – get a proper survey of direct Sunshine availability
• Period of effective Solar Output is considered for 10 hours (7 AM – 5 PM) in India.
• This period will shrink during winters, but for effective direct Sunshine please consider the same.
• Shadow from nearby Hill/ Building/ Tree mostly during morning & evening need to be considered.
• Obstructions due East/ West and + 23% N/S would be most critical.
• Please factor in any future possible obstruction like nearby Building, etc.

Piped, Sprinklers & Drip Irrigation
Source

Transportation

Collection/ Storage

Flow Control

Distribution
Irrigation & Fertilizer Management
Advantages of Piped Irrigation:
1. Water can be transported both Uphill as well as down hill thru pipes.
2. Minimum Choking, Clogging, Erosion so Maintenance is near to nil.
3. No Seepage, no Evaporation, hence transportation Losses are minimum.
4. No Pilferage losses.

Advantages of Drip Irrigation & Sprinklers:

1. Controlled flow to root zone. Saves Water, optimum irrigation, best yield
2. Can be used for distribution of liquid Fertilizers. Uniform distribution, saving, best result.
3. No Top Soil Erosion or Leaching. Ground Fertility maintained for longer time.

But there are Challenges/ Opportunities

1. Pumping is required for Uphill Transportation or Borewell water extraction.
2. Pumping is also required for Drip Irrigation & Sprinklers.
3. Solar Pumps are the Best Solution.

• Good for Vegetable & Fruits
Refrigeration Facility
• Needs Very Low Temperature (00C -40C)
• Good for Poultry, Diary, Fish, Meat, etc.
Solar Power for Poly House and Storage
Solar Power Sizing
• Accurate Peak Power demand should be taken
• Peak Power may depend on Season/ Load
Configuration:
• Choose Standalone if Grid power is not available
• Choose On Grid if Grid power is available >99%
• Choose On Grid with Battery if Grid power availability is <99%
Calculation:
• Calculate the KWp based on Load, available Space, etc.
• Calculate the Battery Back up as required
Other Consideration
• Check out if there is any other Load which may be added
• It may be a good idea to factor in some Domestic use as well
Financial & Commercial Packaging
• Many attractive Packages are available
• Please call us for more details
Solar Power for Food Processing
Food Processing as Forward Integration
• Farmers can easily take up Processing of their own produce
• Setting up Rice, Wheat, Oil or Sugar Mills is relatively easy
• Potato/ Banana Chips, Garlic/ Ginger extracts are simple
• Options like Fruit extracts, Honey culture are also simple
• Diary based Processing has various possibilities
• Poultry and Meat Processing are yet another industry
• Some tree like Coconut have several extracts
Advantages of Food Processing:
• Food Processing is Value Addition with high returns
• Processed Food is easier to store for longer period
Solar Power and it’s Consideration
• Factors remains same as in Poly House or Storage
Financial & Commercial Packaging
• Many attractive Packages are available
• Please call us for more details
Solar Power for Commercial Use
Commercial Use of Solar Power
• Farm lands have large Surfaces exposed to Sunlight
