Introduction
The course focuses on laying the foundation to groom management students to become Effective
Managers for the 21st Century. This course would enable students to understand, learn and acquire
the specific characteristics, skills and traits for Managerial Effectiveness.

Learning Objectives
1. Learn and demonstrate the characteristics, skills and traits of an effective manager.
2. Ability to apply the knowledge in their day today work, when they get into the corporate world.
3. To get the ‘learning mindset’ to acquire specific managerial skills through self-learning and
training programs, on an ongoing basis (continuous learning).
4. To be ‘industry-ready’, when it comes to managing and leading initiatives, by applying the
concepts and practice learnt from this course.

Learning Outcomes: On completion of the course, the participant will be able to:

Knowledge
• Understand the role of a manager in an organization.
• Acquire the knowledge and skills required to be an effective manager.
• Learn and apply proven methodologies to manage day today challenges in the industry.

Skills
• Learn and acquire specific characteristics, skills and traits to become an effective manager, such
as – Versatility, Efficacy, Communication, Time Management, Presentation, Negotiation,
Creativity, Innovation, People Management, Values, Decision Making, Emotional Intelligence,
Reporting, Leadership, Change Management, Emotional Intelligence, Mentoring, Coaching,
Conflict Resolution and other required skills (for managerial effectiveness).

Attitude:
• Companies today recruit for attitude and train for skills. This course will mentor them to have the
right attitude, when it comes to positioning themselves as 21st Century Managers.

Pedagogical Approach
Learning through a combination of lectures, presentation, discussions, case studies, class exercises
and take home assignments.
