Over the past semester of learning ACW 281 Accounting Information System
which is the one-semester course is a compulsory course for Degree in Bachelor of
Accounting (Hons) students in University Science Malaysia, there are many things that
I have learnt. This reflective essay captures the essence and the value of my experiences
throughout the one-semester course. This essay affords me an opportunity to examine
my experiences in studying this course. These experiences have made me changed,
developed and grown from those experiences.

An accounting information system (AIS) is what structure businesses use to

collect, store, manage, process, retrieve and report its financial data so that it can be
used by accountants, consultants, business analysts, managers, chief financial officers
(CFOs), auditors, regulators, and tax agencies.

At first when I knew that I will be taking AIS in this semester, I did not have
much confident as I thought this will be a very hard subject to score and to study.
However, when I started the first lecture and lab, I find that this is not really a hard
subject to understand. However, it sure was a difficult and confusing assignment to do
an ERP system for this subject. When we knew that we will be forming a team of 10
people to do an assignment, I did panic and worried on how we should do in such a big
group. However, the lab lecturer did give us instruction with full guidance step by step
on how to do the ERP systems.

In addition, the lecturer, Dr. Aziatul is a friendly lecturer who teach us with a
soft tone in the lecture and giving us many useful advices in completing our group
assignment. When our group face any problem in doing our assignment, we always
seek advice from her. This encourages me and my team to complete the assignment on
time.
 By the end of the semester, I found my communication skill and teamwork has
improved a lot. In order to complete the tasks and assignments of this subject, I
communicated with my group every week to update ourselves with the things we
understand from lecture and lab. Besides that, our group worked as one and when the
leader distributed the work to each and one of us, we did come out to do group
discussion and discussions online in order to keep track of the progress of all members.
Whenever there is a member who needs help or advice, we will give our opinion and
try our best to help.

Lastly, what can I say is that I appreciate the chance given to me to learn this
subject in my degree courses. What I get from and experienced in this one semester
course is totally different from what I think it would be. This course is actually not that
hard compared to the other core subjects that I’m taking in this semester. However, it
was also really a challenge to complete the assignment given. Nevertheless, I actually
learnt quite a lot of things I never imagined before. I believe that it will be an extremely
useful experience gained for my future as an accountant or auditor. I also hope that the
efforts I gave to this course can help me to get flying colours in the coming final exam.
