Alternative Medicine

1. Acupuncture
- is the practice of penetrating the skin with thin, solid, metallic needles which
are then activated through gentle and specific movements of the practitioner's
hands or with electrical stimulation.

2. Acupressure
- is an alternative medicine technique similar in principle to acupuncture. It is
based on the concept of life energy which flows through "meridians" in the
body. In treatment, physical pressure is applied to acupuncture points with the
aim of clearing blockages in these meridians. Pressure may be applied by
hand, by elbow, or with various devices.

3. Aromatherapy
- uses aromatic materials, including essential oils, and other aroma
compounds, with claims for improving psychological or physical well-being. It
is offered as a complementary therapy or as a form of alternative medicine,
the first meaning alongside standard treatments, the second instead of
conventional, evidence-based treatments.

4. Chiropractic
- is a form of alternative medicine mostly concerned with the diagnosis and
treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially
the spine. The main chiropractic treatment technique involves manual
therapy, especially spinal manipulation therapy (SMT), and manipulations of
other joints and soft tissues.

5. Reflexology
- also known as zone therapy, is an alternative medicine involving application of
pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand
techniques without the use of oil or lotion. It is based on a pseudoscientific
system of zones and reflex areas that purportedly reflect an image of the body
on the feet and hands, with the premise that such work effects a physical
change to the body.

6. Pranic Healing
- is an energy “no-touch” healing system based on the fundamental principle
that the body has the innate ability to heal itself. Pranic Healing utilizes “life
force,” “energy,” or prana to accelerate the body’s inborn ability to heal itself.
It is practiced by hundreds of thousands across the world.
7. Massage

- is a technique that applies pressure to parts of the body by stroking, kneading,

tapping or pressing. It aims to relax you mentally and physically. Massage
may concentrate on the muscles, the soft tissues, or on the acupuncture
points.

8. Nutrition Therapy
- is a therapeutic approach to treating medical conditions and their associated
symptoms via the use of a specifically tailored diet devised and monitored by a
medical doctor physician or registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN). The diet is
based upon the patient's medical record, physical examination, functional
examination and dietary history.[citation needed]
