BPHE USAGE OF SPORTS EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES i

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to investigate on the usage and availability of sports equipment

and facilities for the Bachelor of Physical and Health Education (BPHE) students.

Descriptive design was employed in this study. Total enumeration of the participants was

utilized from which data were collected and analyzed. A validated questionnaire with

established reliability was used to gather data in determining the extent of usage of the

equipment and facilities of the participants focusing on their sex and educational

background. The participants of the study were the BPHE graduates batch 2017-2018 and

4th year Bachelor in Physical and Health Education Students. Results showed that BPHE

undergraduate students have larger population than those BPHE graduate for about 16%.

Female students have a denser population by 42% than male. Results showed that sports

equipment and facilities for only two subjects among BPHE courses were available such

as Team Sports and Individual/Dual Sports. The extent of usage of Team Sports and

Individual/Dual Sports equipment and facilities was in strong extent. When grouped

according to educational attainment, there is a significant difference on the extent of

usage in the sport badminton. When grouped according to sex, there is a significant

difference on the extent of usage in the equipment basketball post and ring. The

researchers recommend that the university should provide sports facilities and equipment

other than Team Sports and Individual/Dual sports. Other studies on the coping skills of

Physical Education students with respect to their course-related activities are

recommended.
