Typology of thesis

1. Introduction & Brief Description of the topic:


With increase in population, an increase in migration to the capital city has happened. This
has brought a change of culture along with varied food to the city to cater to the different
tastes of different people. With the change in time, the concept of eating has changed
completely. From the hearth of home to numerous food joints, themed restaurants, quick food
outlets. Food itself became the community.

Thus, Designing a complex to celebrate food every day. The goal is to make a social Hub for
all types of Culinary/Gastronomical engagements. To propose a city level destination for
Food.The thesis aims to propose a Socio-cultural Hub centered around food(a food park).This
will aim at becoming a large catchment area for people around the city .A unique mix of food
related activities is to be explored such as incubation kitchens, Restaurants, Wet Food
Markets, Informal Farmers’ markets, Gastro Gallery.

Further the relationship between architecture, food, retail and place is to be explored. This
Food hub will not be just a celebration of cuisines or Delhi Food but hopes to sensitize people
about healthy eating habits through various informal events and workshops.

The Temporal and fixed programming will both help to create an identity of a food hub.

2. USP of the project:


SITE AREA:15.59 ACRES

THE SITE LIES IN DDA E9 ZONE.THE SITE WILL FORM THE UNIVERSITY CENTRE
OF ZONE E,DELHI.LOCATED NEXT TO CBD OF SHAHDARA.

The area around the site majorly houses dense residential neighbourhoods
with large unplanned development, the closest one being surajmal
vihar,vishas nagar and vivek vihar.

The precinct attracts various public movement.

Institutional: Nearby Vivekananda college

Commercial:Malls,markets,cafes.Provides recreational space for the user of


campus.

Sports Facilities.: Yamuna sports complex


3. Aim & Objectives

1. To understand the cultural value of food/eating out in current context of delhi.


2. To create a space accommodating foodstalls,shops ,restaurants.
3. To create an urban space that is welcoming. People from other states can come,enjoy
food and cultural activities,and can shop and go.
4. To operate not just as a space for everyday urban life but also have a temporal
programming to accommodate special events or festivals.
5. Augment an experience centered on food.
