Reason for joining as Intern in NHRC

In my school days I have been active in all kinds of activities, like in school functions, sports,
poster making and social activities. In the year 2017, Gurugram Police launched an internship
platform for the Law & IT students. Gurugram Police announce their online application for the
Law & IT students in month of June 2017 and my IT friend from amity university selected as per
the strength of their college to help them report academic events. From my college (Mewar Law
Institute) I was not selected but one of these two students backed out from the Gurugram police
internship because their parents thought their studies would be hampered. I approached my IT
friend to make any possible arrangement and opted me as an intern. My IT friend took a wise
decision and recommended my name to Rakshit Tandon (Coordinator Cyber Cell) and I got
interviewed within 2 days I was part of Gurugram Police Internship. Being a Law Student, it
helped me a lot to understand about child abuse, ethical hacking, bug bounty, DARK WEB, live
murder. I questioned the lecturers, about the solution for this or to organise cyber awareness
programs to make people understand for these child abuse and serious crimes. The most
important thing which I did was that I urged my mates to make cyber awareness in the
schools/colleges. Some of my mates visited the Councillor of their college and organise cyber
awareness seminars and I have participated in amity youth festival in the event of ethical hacking
to make awareness about online bullying, child abuse.

All these activities made me realize that I was a social activist from heart. When I passed my
Semester IV of B.A.LL.B. I searched the steps to curb child abuse I found this article {Deputy
Director (Programmes), UNICEF, Dr. Erma Manon court called for a powerful information
campaign by the media against Child Sexual Abuse. She said that the silence on this subject had
to be broken, and that there should to be greater public debate to focus the attention of civil
society on this matter} and I thought media should also make awareness platform or
news/interviews about control of child abuse and provide knowledge for basic human rights like
small children working in factories, shops, restaurants no one cares for their future. So, media
should teach or guide about people human rights and laws. There are some places where no
facility of education available. When I joined B.A.LL. B & Gurugram Internship, I got inclined
towards the legal aspect of human rights violation. I read about the innocent people behind the
bars waiting for trial since 5 years, 10 years and so and very less was being done to bring this
under control.

In 3rd year of my college, I got information that a NHRC visit was going to be held on 22 October
2018. I attended this opportunity with my collegemates and was very much impressed with the
kind of work the Human Rights people were doing and I realized that this is the place where I
wanted to be.

I want to be a social activist, work for the rights of the people especially for the Minorities of India.
In the month of January 2019, I got to know that National Human Rights Commission conducts
internship program every year and that I could apply for the internship. From then onwards I have
been surfing NHRC’s website for any news and finally have got it.
