EXPERIMENT # 01

 Objective
Control two lamps using two switches.

 Apparatus
Switches, connecting wires, electricity source, lamps, pliers, lamp holders, wiring box as shown
in Fig.1.

 Procedure
Step 1: First of all fix all the circuit components on the board of wiring box. All components
should be fixed tightly in order to prevent looseness in circuit which is usually main cause of short
circuit. Then join one terminal of lamp holders to the same side terminal of other holder by
connecting wires as shown in Fig.2 given below.

Step 2: Now connect two same side terminals of both switches. Then join one remaining terminal
of one switch to the nearly located remaining terminal of holder by connecting wires. Similarly, join
the both remaining terminals of switch and lamp holder using connecting wires as shown in Fig.3
given below.

Step 3: Now we will connect the power source using connecting wire. Connect one wire of source
to the any of terminals of both switches which are mutually connected just with each other. Similarly
connect the other end of source to either of terminal of both holders which are just mutually
connected with each other as shown in Fig.4 given below.

Step 4: Now close the wiring box and assemble both lamps on holders and fix it properly as
shown in Fig.5.

Step 5: Turn on the source of electricity and turn one switch on to test the continuity of circuit.
We will see that when one switch is close then there will be light of just one lamp as shown in
Fig.6.

Step 6: Similarly like step 5, close the 2nd switch to observe the behavior of 2nd lamp which
will also bright after closing of 2nd switch as shown in Fig.7 at page no.4. During that first switch
should remain open.

Step 7: Now turn the both switches “on” and we will see both lamps start brightening again as
shown in Fig.7.

Conclusion:
We can control flow of electricity to two lamps using two switches in parallel circuit.
