what to keep and what to set aside, being organized has many

benefits not only for one’s own self but for the family and

even towards the value of the home.

Most people can relate on how stressful it is to unable

find your stuffs. Home is one of the places where rampant

finding anything. A disorganize can cause wasted money by

reason of replacing items that you already have just because

of your unorganized stuffs you need to purchase for another

HISTORY OF THE PROJECT

In the 10th Century, Japanese used Rusun Jar as storage

jars for foodstuffs like grain, wine, candied fruits and

spices. Later on, it was adopted by the Central Luzon here

in the Philippines and named as Tapayan Jar.

Baskets are the children of the gods and the basis of

our earth this is according to the ancient Mesopotamians.

They believe that our world began when a wicker raft was

placed on the ocean and soil and spread on the raft to make

it land masses. In 1540 Early Primates used basket for

gathering foods and storing things.

1910 Kitchen Cabinet was introduced as commonly used

today. It is built-in furniture installed in kitchen for

storage of food and cooking equipment.

In today’s world, innovation of products is a fast

raising industry. Manufacturers always finds new product

that will be introduced in the market which gives them the

chance to be more competitive than others.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

This chapter contains the summary of related literature

and studies lifted from various journals and unpublished

theses of both foreign and local authors that have relations

in this study.

FOREIGN LITERATURE

In this study, the researchers are interested in the

Irish market. It is primordial to narrow this research to

analyze the expansion of the home decoration market in

Ireland. According to Vimla Bheemuck (2009), in Ireland, in

particular, in the capital, are held a lot of events related

to decoration. The 20th edition of The Autumn Gift & Home

Show 2009 was held last August in Dublin. 128 international

professionals (especially manufacturers) attended this

annual event. They have received just over 4,000 visitors

including a large majority of traders, merchants, and multi-

brand retailers. Moreover, according to Aurélie Denimal

(2009), there is the emergence of the giant furniture and

interior store, Ikea. He opened the doors of its second

store in Ireland after Belfast, in Dublin. Following the

success of this opening, the leader, who already employs 500

people, plans to recruit 100 additional employees. Since its

opening, more than 15 500 people visited Ikea. For the first

year, officials expect 2.75 million visitors and a turnover

Page | 26
NAVOTAS POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE
Bangus St., Barangay NBBS, Navotas City
of 100 million Euros. Garry Deakin, store manager welcomes

the enthusiasm and excellent returns for the Irish.

Recently, opening a shopping center dedicated to the

interior near to Dublin. This shopping center is best in the

art of the interior: porcelain vases designed by Rachel

Allen sculptures, from teapots, cups and tableware designer

Graham Knuttel acknowledged to be the artist's most popular

in Ireland. It will thus present his masterpieces,

traditional or modern art, and many visitors who roam every

day shopping in this village like no other in search of an

original and unique. (The Irish Time a study by the

institute UbiFrance, 2010).

It is necessary first of all to understand the new

phenomenon of Home decoration and his impact on the European

markets through some figures. According to Julie Scelfo

(2010), the interior design is a market that has promised to

growth despite the economic crisis. The number of actors

involved in this market is growing dramatically. According

to Tim Mckeough (2010), the distribution is split into more

than 70 000 stores in European union (GSB, department

stores, special chains, retailers ...) and the penetration

of operators from related areas are increasing by 43 %(Zara,

Esprit, Dunes stores ...). So today, almost 73% of women in

Europe are decorating their interior (American authority of

interior design study, 2008). Moreover, the importance of

Page | 27
NAVOTAS POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE
Bangus St., Barangay NBBS, Navotas City
home decoration for people is now evidence. It has been

demonstrated that man is exactly what he lives in (Frank

Alvah Parsons, 2006). The environment is the strongest

possible factor in man’s development. It means that

concordant sounds, agreeable odors, harmonious colors, and

pleasing arrangements have their immediate effects on human

life. In the first place, the home is the center of all

life’s activities; this matter may perhaps stimulate us in

our thinking, which will affect our way of doing whatever we

attempt in the future. Consumers are becoming increasingly

aware that decorate their interior became a pleasure, and

improves daily life (Consumer behavior theories and

lifestyle, 2005).

Home decoration is a very large topic, and most of the

time, a manufacturer is specialized in one or some specific

areas of decoration. This research shows that it could be

interesting to be more focus on the home accessories market

which recorded good figures. Although sales of furniture

know a little decrease for 6 months, the sales of home

accessories know for recent years a big rising. According

to Marina Gueringer, who has made a study for Ubifrance

about the market of gifts, tableware’s, and decorative items

in Dublin (2009), many professionals who purchase products

on this show, will resell them in their trade during the

Christmas period. Tableware is an area very successful

Page | 28
NAVOTAS POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE
Bangus St., Barangay NBBS, Navotas City
during this kind of show, but it is a very season market

because most of the items are sold between December and

January for the Christmas period, and between June and

august for weddings.

Modern multifunctional organizer, especially in homes

with limited living space, can help achieve greater

convenience. Now used in a wide variety of indoor

circumstances, this flexible and space-saving approach is as

stylish as practical. Many people tried to make small spaces

really functional and failed to do so while pursuing a

useful and modern concept of interior design. Multipurpose

organizer can be an excellent solution for overcoming this

challenge, as it can be constantly customized to your needs

and thus put to use.

Such intelligent products are easy to deploy and easy

to incorporate the layout. Rooms can be optimized without

compromising on space for a variety of purposes. Combining

the creative space concept with multifunctional stuffs

organizer, total flexibility can be achieved inside your

four walls. The opportunity to combine highly attractive

aesthetics with functional benefits in particular is a

practical expectation in everyday life. When used in the

lounge and sleeping areas, the hinged wall stocked by

Stilwerk, for example, meets the discerning requirements of

Page | 29
NAVOTAS POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE
Bangus St., Barangay NBBS, Navotas City
modern apartment owners, while simultaneously satisfying

their various needs. This innovative product is a modern

wall painting with simple elements which happens to serve

several functional purposes. Pieces of product organizer

that fulfill their original function are hidden behind the

large painting. Whether you actually intend to use it, or

display it for decorative purposes, this functional piece of

organizer is literally in a class of its own. Another smart

multi-purpose product is the folding sauna, which can be

easily placed into a small living area and be unfolded to

relax at the touch of a button.

Today, due to the population growth and the lack of a

particular resource, the planet faces a lot of serious

problems. Overcrowded living space causes economic and

social problems, and restricting product options not only

diminishes the value of household, keeping material, but

also leads to price increases. Multi-functional organizer

becomes one of the options for space sustainability because

of all these complicated factors. Multi-functional object

organizer integrates different functions into one piece to

manage material use, creates opportunities for object-human

interaction, and reduces consumer space effectively. This

style of design is becoming increasingly popular among the

young generation, and it is the standard of the arranging

design function of today.

Page | 30
NAVOTAS POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE
Bangus St., Barangay NBBS, Navotas City
It is hard to say when people discovered the need for

organizing function; when the first piece of stuffs

arranging was made, it's equally hard to find out. We do

recognize, however, that proper organizer has been a major

part of human everyday life for a long time.

For every purpose people with little residential space

cannot afford to have a separate piece of multi-purpose and

have proper arranging function. Otherwise, their homes would

become furniture factories, not people's homes.

People are likely to have the same demand for all kinds

of things to satisfy their need for a pleasant life, no

matter what size their house. Proper storage furniture and

organizers are an easy way for people to arrange their

belongings properly. All the objects needed in a house

should be integrated into the usable spaces; therefore they

should no longer be called decor, but equipment. The word

"equipment" is something that is needed for a particular

activity in this sense. Because belongings proper organizer

is definitely needed in a home, it is called equipment

properly.
