Most of the people, upon hearing the word “Programming”, the first thing that comes up to their
mind is about computers. In fact Programming, is the process of creating a set of instructions that
tells a computer how to perform a task. In today’s time, the Generation Z are already obsessed
with technologies because they can easily do what they want to do like posting their pictures in
social media instantly, communicating with their friends or relatives in just a second, updating
their status, etc. Computers can attract teenagers easily because it’s like a big version of mobile
phones. In our campus, Flora A. Ylagan Senior High School, the number of students who choose
this strand is huge. They choose this specialization because they believe that the teachers of the
school will provide more knowledge about it. Have you ever wondered why most of the students
nowadays choose programming?

Why is it that students often choose programming? Learners often choose this strand because
some of the students are attracted to the salary of Information Technology of Computer
Engineering/Science graduate or because of popular culture promoting hacking making video
games as cool or relevant. In the other side, it is one of the most advanced and valuable skills
more and more students are adopting these days. It has many opportunities to get a career in the
near future like Computer Programmers, Computer Systems Analysts, Computer and
Information Systems Managers, Information Security Analysts, Web Developers, Computer
Network Architects.

One of the main benefits of knowing computer code is that you have many career paths available
to you. There is not just one career that you can do if you study computer programming
Programmers are needed in almost every career field in existence. Not only are programmers
needed, but they are in high demand because not very many people know how to code. Another
benefit to learning how to code computers is that you can usually work from home. Many
programmers can work most of the time at home, and go into the office for a little bit each week.
Some people do not like or do not do well working from home, so these people could go to the
office and work. The point is that it’s a flexible position. You’re not tied down to just following
one way of doing things.

Not because there are many students choose programming course means that it is what they
really want. Some may be influenced by their peers, family or haven't decided what course they
really want to pursue, which can cause lack of interest in the study. If you are not passionate
about technology at heart, you may become unhappy over the influence it exerts on your values.
It can also cause health problems, you spend a lot of time sitting, typing, in front of the
computer, your wrist, eyes, and back may cause some pain or injuries. You may not even be able
to use it in future work.
Flora A. Ylagan Senior High School, the number of students who choose this strand is huge. We

are in the world of technologies and the flora A Ylagan Senior High has offer an ICT strand

which is easy to learn if you pay attention and have a lot to learn because many people use

elecrtonic devices they have been enrolled in the Flora A Ylagan Senior High and most of them

have been selected ICT Programming because many want to explore and create programs.
