Holy Trinity Church

St Marylebone, was one of four chapels commissioned to be built in 1824 to

ease the heavy population demands of what was soon to be one of the most
populated parishes in England. It was built in 1825 and lay within the civil
parish boundaries of St Marylebone. Sir John Soane R.A. was the architect of
this church, built in a Grecian architectural style. Having fallen into disuse by
the 1930s it became a store in 1936 for Penguin Books. Penguin moved out in
1937 and the church was adapted as the headquarters of the Society for
Promoting Christian Knowledge where they remained until 2005/6.
In the 1950s the parish was united with the adjoining parish of St Marylebone.
The church stands on a traffic island with Marylebone Road to the front and
Albany Street and Osnaburgh Street to the sides.
When SPCK vacated the Diocese of London sought to find an alternative user
for the building. Various options were explored - office use, an hotel, school
use and use by the Korean Government as Cultural Centre and Tourism Office.
hwever, none of these uses materialised.
An offer was received Mr George Hammer for a long lease on a full repairing
and insuring basis for the building to be used as a conference centre, health
club, retail, restaurant, office and storage with car parking in the church
grounds.
A Redundancy Scheme was made by the Church Commissioners in 2007
which appropriated the building for these uses and eanbled the London
Diocesan Fund to grant a lease.

Lucifer inside the Holy Trinity Church

This statue of Lucifer might be the creepiest art installation ever
The Holy Trinity Church in Marylebone, Westminster, built specifically to
celebrate the defeat of Napoleon, hasn't been used as a place of worship since
the 30's, but that didn't stop artist Paul Fryer from making a religious
statement by hanging this terrifying statue of Satan inside.
The piece, titled "Lucifer (Morningstar)" is a wax sculpture depicting the devil
snared in a set of power lines. The statue is equal parts grotesque and
beautiful, showing Lucifer as an oily, black creature with immense white
wings (created from real feathers).

PURPOSE
I chose this parish church because of how different it is from the others and
besides that it really caught my attention and also my members agreed to it.
The holy trinity parish church was different because it has the statue of
Lucifer this represent the defeat of napoleon, its really interresting to witness
this kind of statue inside a Holy Church

Because through this we are brought closer with Jesus and also with the
community even if each of the faithful has different backgrounds, state of life,
and natural talent … these should not stop them to live in solidarity with
others. Communion opens our hearts and doors to anyone. Seeing the
importance of equality in dignity no worldly standard may belittle the dignity
possessed by each and every person. In the eyes of the world, a sense of
equality might be hard to attain. But in the renewed Church of Communion,
regardless of who you are and what you have become, we are all equal
because we are all created with dignity, baptized Christians in the name of the
Holy Spirit, Jesus, and the Almighty Father.

Participation among members of a community is also a mark of a renewed

Church, the Year of the Laity is a very timely opportunity to fulfill this mission.
Participation comes in two ways - everyone gives, everyone receives, it means
enabling the lay people to participate more fully in the life of the Church and
its task of mission. Even Pope Francis is promoting the BEC movement.
