1.0 PART 1 – BACKGROUND

1.1 Overview of Arete Financial Partners

Arete Financial Partners is a Singapore based boutique management consultancy and

investment advisory firm focused on helping banking and financial service businesses
achieve exceptional results in a highly competitive and changing environment, across
diversified cultures and geographies. Over the last few years, Arete has worked across Asia,
Middle East and Africa with highly visible and respected financial institutions. Some of
Arete’s clients include Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, Commercial International
Bank (Egypt), Rabobank NV and SAMBA (Saudi Arabia). Our services include Strategic
Consulting and Implementation, Business Process Reengineering, Project Management,
Performance Management, and Investment Advisory.

Arete Financial Partners focuses on “Execution Consulting.” Our execution framework brings
the necessary level of discipline and methodology required to create a viable and successful
strategy, since we believe that an idea only creates value once it is executed. We break the
high-level strategy and transformation down into manageable pieces, draw the connections
to structural and operational changes that need to be made, communicate the right
messages to everyone involved in implementation and finally monitor performance against
those strategy implementation efforts and take any necessary corrective actions.

Arete’s Consultants are seasoned professionals who have extensive operating experience
across different geographies and bring a diverse domain of expertise (including a deep
appreciation of technological applications towards business objectives). Arete has been
involved in a range of projects providing both consulting services and project management.
Given the range of our consultants’ experiences, we can cover the domain of Strategy to
Execution unlike other consulting companies who are primarily focused on strategy
consulting.

1.2 Strategic Intent

Arete Financial Partners in its decade long journey has had the opportunity to work with a
multitude of financial institutions across Asia, Africa and The Middle East. Due to its
approach of focussing on Execution Consulting it has deep understanding of its clients, their
operating environment and long-term growth plans. In addition, these clients trust Arete to
assist them to be future ready in an increasingly digitized market place.

Given Arete’s deep understanding of its clients and the evolving needs of these clients to
implement cutting edge solutions, it is Arete’s stated strategic intent to create a symbiotic
operating relationship with technology providers to cover these product gaps. Arete, due to
its operating presence in Asia, Africa & The Middle East, will isolate financial institutions
where this need is immediate, and the technology partner will be positioned as the preferred
solution provider of choice.

1.3 Purpose of the RFI

The Request for Information (RFI) acts as the first step towards identifying suitable
technology partners to support several potential clients and opportunities across Asia. The
purpose of this RFI is to allow Arete to assess partner capabilities and establish a working
relationship with Arete where roles and responsibilities of both Arete and the Partner in
design, development and deployments of the related technology solutions are clear and
mutually agreed ahead of a potential pitch with a bank.

Whilst it is the intent of Arete to assimilate responses for the purposes of pre-qualification
and possible short listing for further consideration, Arete makes no obligations or
undertakings in any way to:

▪ Go to tender
▪ Accept any RFI information received from partners
▪ Include partners responding to this RFI in any future tender invitation
▪ Any other commitment to partners whatsoever, including any intention to form a
contract with any partner for provision of the Opportunity.

1.4 Key Requirements

Arete is interested to establish a partnership with a technology provider who can bring a
comprehensive suite of robotic lending capabilities to potential financial institution clients
across Asia.

As a start, Arete’s key requirement is to establish a partnership to implement a robotic

lending technology platform which would allow one of our bank clients to offer unsecured
lending products across mobile & web. Once the solution is implemented, further
enhancements to our client’s capabilities to extend channel and products would be explored.
As such, the Robo-lending product & channel scope will cover one product and one channel.

Product & channel scope is as follows:

▪ Product: Unsecured lending
▪ Channel: Mobile & Web

Project process scope covers the end-to-end unsecured lending process including loan
origination, underwriting and fulfillment. Client servicing and loan repayment process will
leverage the existing process with possible enhancements to be made where robotic
capabilities used in the process design may apply.

The project process scope will cover:

▪ Origination – In Scope
▪ Underwriting – In Scope
▪ Fulfillment – In Scope
▪ Servicing – Leverage existing process
▪ Collections – Leverage existing process
November 17, 2017
Page 5

The solution would enhance the bank’s current unsecured lending process, which is labour
intensive, error-prone, cumbersome, paper-based with a long turn-around time and has
poor customer experience to one that is:

▪ Paperless
▪ Instant
▪ Available anytime/anywhere

Project objective is to design and build a fully automated lending (robo-lending) process
and platform of which the benefits and approach can be adopted and further extended
across all lending products and channels. The outcome of the project is to drive:

▪ Increased efficiency and Cost saves

▪ Higher sales & better client experience
▪ Enhanced control/quality

The project would be divided into two parts, including:

1) Phase 1 - Robo Strategy & Design (2 months)

2) Phase 2 - Build of the Robo-Lending Platform (2 Months)

Although scope of the RFI covers both phases, it is assumed that our technology partner
would have a lighter touch involvement in Phase 1 with more substantial responsibilities
and effort required in the build of the robo-lending platform.
