Is The Petition For More Clothes-Optional Places Worthwhile

or A Huge Waste of Time?

White House Request for Clothing-Optional Areas
More clothing-optional places - For those of you unaware, on January 13th, Larry Darter of
the Dallas Examiner created a "We the People" request that calls for all Federal lands to
have clothes-optional regions. It's puttered along for a few weeks and AANR has put their
stamp of approval on it. Currently it's only over 2,500 signatures of the 100,000 wanted. With
just two weeks to go, it doesn't appear like it'll meet it's goal. Some may see this as an
indication of the decline of naturism or that naturists have serious privacy concerns, making
them frightened to death of really placing a signature on anything. I 've a somewhat different
stance.
The "We the People" campaign was created by the U.S. Government in 2011 as a means to
receive comments from its citizens about political, societal, and economical issues, giving the
typical man a way to petition the government about their concerns. Initially, only 5,000
signatures were needed for the White House to issue a response. Quickly after launch, the
number soared to 25,000 and today it is 100,000. Despite the number of signatures needed
ever increasing, achieving the target does not guarantee an official statement. In the past
there have been requests to label GMO food, legalize marijuana, and close Guantanamo Bay
that have all surpassed the requirements, but still fell on deaf ears. The White House is
simply cherry-picking what they deem relevant and will get them the most press. Even if this
petition for more clothes-optional outdoor spaces does reach its goal and the White House
picks it as one of their significant issues, there is absolutely no index the response will truly
address the issue or be serious by any means.

Another thing to mention is that there now aren't any federal laws against informal, non-
sexual nudity. All of the laws on record have been made firmly by the states. Sail away with
us aboard Bare Necessities Big Nude Boat! of the petition is that every national park and
forest would quarter off sections for clothes-optional use. After that, who orders where these
clothes-optional places are? They could section off a five-foot square that's hundreds of
yards from any trail, swimming hole, or important park place and designate it as clothing
optional. Or how about the rear of any cave inhabited by a grizzly bear? Sure, they're
clothes-optional also. Now, with authorities sanctioned clothes-optional regions around the
area, there would need certainly to be way to command all the naked people from wondering
out of these designated places. It wouldn't be long before a federal law was signed, making
all non-sexual nudity prohibited. is really nothing to legalize.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against a world with more nudie spots. It'd be great if I
turned out to be incorrect, and the petition ended up receiving an official, positive answer
from your White House. FKK did post about the petition on Facebook and Twitter. Getting
acceptance of the human body is what it's about. But when Its very easy to get to, there are
people of all comes to social nudity, I do not feel that creating modest clothes-optional zones
is the reply, and by using the government's "We The People" site, with its trivial answers and
lack-luster track record, doesn't help with the credibility of the cause.
It should be noted the Naturist Action Committee issued an advisory responding to the
petition (link below). While they didn't discount it, some have been surprised by their less-
than-enthusiastic answer. Rather than urge everyone to sign, NAC basically said they leave it
up to the individual to decide whether to sign it.
